BRIGGS Includes picture of him in military uniform. Dr. Thomas H. BRIGGS was born in Belidere, Ill., February 2, 1840. He attended Albion College and was pursuing a course in medicine in the University of Michigan when the war broke out. He enlistd in Company G., Eleventh Regiment of Michigan Volunteers. He was first lieutenant and then captain in 1862. He took part in fifteen hard battles, and in 1863 on account of a number of wounds, he entered the hospital service, later practicing in Nashville, where he took the degree of Doctor of Medicine. In 1882 he came to Battle Creek, where he soon won a large and lucrative practice and many local honors. In 1894 he received the honorary degree of Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan. He died April 7, 1899, and Battle Creek mourned one of its honored citizens. unknown picture taken in Jackson, MI maybe Thomas.
