He was born on January 25, 1905, to Steve and Anna (Nash) Zabonick in Pennsylvania. His childhood was spent in Illinois and Michigan. He lived with his loving wife Marie for many years in Albion where they raised all five of their children. He worked for Gale Manufacturing for 42 years and Union Steel for three years before retiring. John and Marie moved to Oklahoma to live with their daughter Dody. He was in the Lions Club in Enid, Oklahoma. They were members of many deaf groups in Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas. Survivors include daughters, Dorothy, Ann and Julia; sons, Fred and Jack; granddaughters, Laurie and Shannon; grandsons, Jack, Kevin, Charles, Bill, John, Derek and Wade; 22 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, and brothers, Adam, Charles, Michael and Andy. Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM Monday, June 18, at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, with! Pastor Thomas Hollowood officiating. Interment will follow at Albion Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, June 16, from 1 - 6 PM.
