Trying to figure out how the surname "Pierce" fits into my family line. The first Pierce connection seems to come with Mary Williams Reese - the wife of John Reese (Jr.). He died and she remarried someone by the name of Maloney. In the 1900 census, for Burlington, Calhoun County, Michigan, Mary is enumerated with a Luther PIERCE as a servant. Mary was 59. Her daughter, Grace, was listed as "Grace MALONEY" and is age 17 although I believe Grace's biological father was John REESE. It's possible that at some point Mary might have married to this Mr. Pierce - I don't know. I didn't write down anything more about him at the time I was researching. But, back at the name "Pierce" again ... Mother told me about a gentleman named PIERCE who came to visit her (Mom) with his wife around 1961 or 1962. I vaguely remember him - he was quite big and I think (not sure) that he lived in or around Battle Creek. I know he was somewhat upset that she knew very little of the family, but, she was orphaned in early childhood. The "Mr. Pierce" who came to visit Mom is now deceased. Mom does remember that there were two brothers by the last name of Pierce and one of them had the first name of "Pete." She couldn't remember the first name of the other one. They were cousins somehow to her adoptive father, Asa LAZARUS. She thought the PIERCE cousins might have been a connection somehow through the REESE side but she wasn't sure. Does anyone have any insight into the PIERCE REESE LAZARUS connection? Thanks Sheryl Houston, Texas
