Age 65 Of Battle Creek Died July 20, 2004 at Battle Creek Health System. He was born February 11, 1939 in Terzvant, Tennessee, to Otto and Maxine (Parker) Beal. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1957, and attended Western Michigan University. James owned and operated the James Beal Ltd., men's clothing store in downtown Kalamazoo for several years. Since 1981 James worked as a sales consultant with the Daniel Lynch Sales Co. in Grand Rapids. He was active with the Kalamazoo Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Centreville School Board. In 1983 James married JoAnn (Jacobs) Hickey. She survives. Also surviving are daughters, Krista (Mike) Hostetler of South Haven, and Elizabeth Bird (Robert) Kinsey of Sturgis; sons, Cameron Beal of Jamestown, Tennessee, Richard (Nancy) Hickey of Evansville, Indiana, Greg Hickey of Battle Creek, and Chris (Debra) Hickey of West Palm Beach, Florida; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Beal and sister, Lucille Crocker of McK! enzie, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-father, Sam Hopper; and brothers, John Thomas Beal and Terry Hopper. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Shaw Funeral Home 2838 Capital Ave., SW Battle Creek www.shawfuneralhome.com A Memorial Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, Rev.
