Age 72 Of Battle Creek Died Saturday, July 17, 2004. Clayton was born August 25, 1931 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Eli and Olive (Carrel) Kindy. He graduated from Richland High School and served with the U.S. Army as a Chaplain's Assistant at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma during the Korean Conflict. In 1968 he moved to Saginaw with Consumers Power Company from which he retired in 1986, after 33 years with the company. Clayton was a former member of the Eastwood Church of God in Kalamazoo, where he sang in the choir, and had also played the organ at the Swan Valley First United Methodist Church. He was an accomplished carpenter who also enjoyed restoring antique cars. Surviving are four children, Steven (Chris) Kindy of Battle Creek, David (Lynne) Kindy of New Lothrop, Mark Kindy of Waynesboro, VA, and Julie (Ken) Karst of Saginaw; seven grandchildren; sister, Judith (Adrian) DeWard of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Akins and Barbara Hinz; and a ! brother, Carrel Kindy. Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Mausoleum Chapel of Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery in Kalamazoo with Rev. Dr. David H. Graham officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements by the Richard A.
