Information courtesy of Sharon Warner, Homer Index. Gertrude E. Martin, 77, of Homer, died Thursday, October 28, 1999, at Foote Hospital in Jackson. Mrs. Martin was born September 28, 1922, in Sharon, to Raymond and Esther (Anderson) Barber. She married Eldon Lee Martin July 21, 1941, and he preceded her in death September 13, 1980. She enjoyed walking, needlework and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Martin is survived by three sons, Larry (Janet) Martin and Roger (Fran) Martin of Homer and Steven (Ann) Martin of Albion; two daughters, Carolyn (Larry) Thomas of Tekonsha and Susan Martin of Homer; a brother, Clifford Barber of South Boardman; a sister, Marie Tinker of Grand Rapids; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Eloise Densmore. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Martin was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Martin. Graveside services were held Saturday, October 30, at Fairview Cemetery in Homer with the Rev. Larry Fulton officiating. The Homer chapel of the Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapel handled the arrangements.
