Information courtesy of Sharon Warner, Homer Index. Robert D. Folk, 78, of Homer, died Monday, October 25, 1999, at his residence. Mr. Folk was born June 18, 1921, in Coldwater, to Louis Henry and Bessie Jane (Byers) Folk. He married Doris J. Shaffer July 4, 1943 in Decatur. She survives. Mr. Folk was a life resident of the area and graduated from Homer High School. He was a World War II Air Force veteran and was a prisoner of war. He was the president of Folk Oil Company until his retirement. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Homer, the Lions Club, the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed his woodworking, his time in Florida and especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Michael J. (Susan J.) Linton of Lapeer; a son, Richard D. (Jan) Folk, of Homer; five grandchildren, Brett, James and Keri Linton of Lapeer, and Thyra and Deanne Folk of Homer; six sisters, Lorene Yost of Leesburg, Florida, Lucille Miller of Homer, Mrs. Samuel (Elizabeth) Neufer of Albion, and Mrs. Vernon (Glenna) Fast, Mrs. Harry (Jeanne) Cutcher and Mrs. Donald (Charleen) Streets, all of Coldwater. Mr. Folk was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Griffiths. Visitation is today (Wednesday) after 9 a.m. at the Homer Chapel of Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels. Funeral services are Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Homer with the Revs. Charlotte Poetschner and Larry Fulton officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Homer Area Community Foundation or the donor's choice. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
