Information courtesy of Sharon Warner, Homer Index. Ella M. Draper, 100, of Homer, died Saturday, October 30, 1999, at the Litchfield Nursing Centre in Litchfield. Mrs. Draper was born May 6, 1899, in Mobile, Alabama, to George and Flora (Schutt) Shanaberger. She first married Cloyd Williams, and then Melvin W. Draper, both of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Draper came to the Homer area in the 1940s from Jackson. She was a housewife, helping on the farm. She belonged to the Free Methodist Church at Pulaski and had been a member of the Jackson Sweet Adelines. She was a Gold Star Mother and belonged to the Willing Workers Club at Fisher's Corner. She is survived by two daughters, Marcella Bronson of Homer and Berneice Warner of Tucson, Arizona; a son, Charles R. Williams of Brookston, Indiana; and several grand-, great-grand-, and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, Mrs. Draper was preceded in death by a son, Jack Williams, and a daughter, Irene Windle. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 2, at the Homer Chapel of Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels. Burial followed in Fisher Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Fund, the Free Methodist Church in Pulaski or the United Methodist Church in Homer.
