You can always add details that you've uncovered later. Post the obituary separatly. If you know where he is buried, also post at the Find A Grave website. If I die tomarrow, or ect. all someone will have to do is click on my post and they will have my information. Few things are so sad as to find a person who says they have information to share, but they are no longer posting when you find their post and they left no trail for you to follow. They say you can't take it with you, but you do; all those wonderful stories ect. could be lost, please preserve them for those who will follow. I haven't got to much so far on Bert and his children but still working on it. I found some interesting information of William J. But it is really getting interesting as I go. Have you heard a family story? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. One was born in 1827 in Norwich Township, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada. He married a Cynthia Sherman. If they moved to Bengal Township, Clinton County, Michigan, that would be very coincidental. Per the 1880 federal census in Lebanon, Clinton County a David Sherman was living with wife Electa, daughter Grace 5, and son Edwin age 1 year. In 1870 a David Sherman, Electa, and son Nelson age 2 were enumerated in Day Township, Montcalm County, Michigan. Nelson died young. In 1900 David, Electa, Edwin, and Grace were in Battle Creek, Calhoun County, Michigan. In 1910 in Battle Creek a Donald Sherman age 6 is living with Edwin 31, Eva, Milfred. A few dwellings away is a Burt Sherman age 29 with wife Adell and daughter Gladys. In 1920 Edwin Sherman 40, wife Eva May 35, "Wilford" 18, Donald 16, Emma Thomason 56. (Emma Thompson is Eva's mother, according to the census she was born in Canada.) In most instances David is reported to have been born in Michigan, and his parents in New York. She was the wife of Alfred H. Orth, son of John Orth the founder of the Orth Brewery in Minneapolis (later merged with 3 other breweries and became the Minneapolis Brewery, then the Grain Belt Brewery. According to cemetery records, Mary (DeMuth)Orth died at Battle Creek on June 24, 1890 and she was buried at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis on the same day. I find this a little hard to believe that she could die in Battle Creek and be buried in Minneapolis on the same day. I was wondering if anyone out there might have any ideas where I could check to verify her date of death. I have not been able to find a death record for her, are there any records from the Kellogg Sanitarium still in existance today? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I do not know if the date written under her brief obit is her dod or the date of the newspaper: October 25, 1894. I have done some census and cemetery research and in census came up with Abigail born in NY abt 1822; husband George Moss born in NY 1820. I have not been able to connect George to any of my Moss aks Morse families and on my last attempt for cemetery info, came up empty handed. Children found for George and Abby, from census through 1880: Emily, Ida, Susan, Floretta aka Frances/Frankie & Henry. George appears to have died between the 1870 and 1880 census. In 1880 census, there is an Ida of right age who is wife of a John Harrington. Can anyone connect to these families or tell me where George Moss belongs on the Moss aka Morse tree? Some lines of Moss (my own, for instance) changed name from Moss to Morse when they went came down from Canada to Mic! higan.
