Just remembered that I do have the book "The Tekonsha Story 1930-1975" that I purchased from the Tekonsha Public library in October, 1992. As I recall there were several extra copies and that was the reason they were being sold at the time. It would seem possible that copies of the book remain in the library if it's still there and open. (I live in Texas) I looked through the farm section but did not see anything about the "Smith" farm. However, it's difficult and unlikely to get every one who contributed to the development of a community included in a book. The Foreward of the book begins with "The Idea For this Book, 'THE STORY OF TEKONSHA, 1830-1975,' evolved early in August, 1973, after the Tekonsha Community Bicentennial Committee had determined the direction of their efforts in celebrating the American Revolution Bicentennial. During the ensuing months, members searched near and far for items, pictures, reports, and historical articles pertaining to the Tekonsha community. Many writings and pictures were made available by former and present residents, completed questionnaires were received, and sorting and editing began. This book is the result. " ,,, it goes on for two more paragraphs. At the end of the book (hard bound) there is a list of names of people who contributed to the creation of the book. The Table of Contests has the following topics: Page The Indians of Te-Kon-Qua-Shae 01 A Community is Born 03 The Township Library 10 Township Cemeteries 13 The Village Develops 14 The Creamery & Cheese Factory 24 Flour Milling in Tekonsha 26 Produce, Chickens and Beans 31 Business at the North End 34 School Growth and Development 44 The Churches 69 Business and Industry 77 Organizations 91 Wars 103 Transportation 108 Health Car 112 Agriculture 114 Farms of the Area 123 Oil in Tekonsha 163 Downtown, 1975 164 ______________________________ Sheryl In a message dated 12/30/2009 6:15:51 P.M. I'm not sure I recognize your family's name although my mom mentioned a family by the name of Smith - think my great uncle or someone worked for him on his farm probably in the 1920s. But, I was thinking that was in Albion. I have a page out of my grandmother's autograph album dated Dec. 25th, 1913 and signed by a Mrs. Drumm in Tekonsha Michigan.
