I have an Anson Turner of Erie Co., NY who purchased land on Sept. 10, 1838 in Kalamazoo Co.,MI and then on May 1, 1839 in Calhoun Co., MI. I am guessing these may have been in bordering townships. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a township map to tell me which these might be. The BLM records gives me this basic info, though. What I am looking to confirm is the sale of this property. By the 1840 census, Anson and his wife are enumerated in Geneva, Walworth County, WI where they reside also in 1850. Any chance anyone has access to records or platt maps of these years to at least confirm that this Anson Turner is indeed gone from MI by 1840? Not sure I have exactly what you are looking for, but I may. Minnie was Marks 2nd wife, he married her 2 years or so after the passing of her sister Mary Louise during childbirth. I have a little info on Caroline, sister to Mark Anthony (my direct relative), but that isn't the one you are looking for is it? I do know that Melvin died in 1881. He was the son of Mark and Minnie, George Helmuth was the son of Mark and Mary Louise Reese. Does this help you any? I wish I had my papers in front of me, as I am going off my memory (the memory that has been pounding in my head for so many years reading through the family records). I can most certainly get you more (*hopefully what you need) if you like. I just started using this site. I have worked off microfische and literary notations for the most part. This is going to make things so much nicer, if I can figure it all out. Good lu! ck looking. I can't get back any farther than George and Mary for the most part however. Got anything? That's what I had assumed too; that the business that Laura Fuller was running was not there long. She remarried (for the 3rd time) in 1883, so that may be why the business didn't last very long either. I appreciate your help very much. Not sure about availability of the first book but you can ask. Here's what Carver's first book says about Laura in his discussion about what has been at 106 East Michigan Avenue. About 1863 Sidney A. Baldwin located a drug store on lot 13 and changed to a grocery store by 1865. In 1872 J. H. Bauer was located here next to Vogt. Barber Louis Jully was located here from 1873 to 1881, Laura Fuller Hair Goods in 1883,Karstaedt Saloon in 1884, William Bohanna Feed Store from 1886 to 1890, and Charles E. Brooks Feed Store from 1891 to 1895. Your Laura wasn't there very long - that building has had a lot of different businesses in it and it continues to house a wide variety of establishments -- since I've been here it has changed hands a lot. It doesn't appear from Carver's book that Mast and Fuller were doing business next to each other. Her business was on the south side of Michigan Avenue and he was on the north side so they were across the street from one another.
