    3. My email to the Willard Library is, as yet, unanswered, and the email to the Historical Society bounced back, unreceived in Battle Creek. Is my 2x great-grandfather, William Harvey Coleman, the same as the Wm. H. Coleman, Pioneer Merchant, pictured in the historical photo at Willard Library's website? Is my 2x great-grandmother, Lucretia Merritt, connected to the historical sites named Merritt in Battle Creek, Michigan? Joy joychi@quixnet.net

WOOD, were married 5 Sep 1843 in Battle Creek, MI. I'm seeking information on the family of Bethana WOOD. Does anyone have information on WOODs who lived in Battle Creek township in the 1840s? Would the Calhoun County Clerk marriage record have any additional information, such as the names of the witnesses, or parents, or where the bride and groom lived? I have a great deal of information on Lafayette's ancestors. In 1843 he may have been living with his mother's brother, Stephen VALENTINE (sometimes spelled VOLUNTINE or VOLENTINE), who lived in Calhoun county. Lafayette's parents lived in Chicago at the time. Author: CaroleAlden Surnames: KELLEY, KELLY, BAKER Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.michigan.counties.calhoun/91.172.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I don't know your family, this is a long shot, but I am looking for a Kelley ect. in this area. Peggy Or Glady / Glads KELLEY/KELLY was born about 1920 and came from Hastings, Barry Co., MI. She married my uncle, Elton Edward BAKER My mother, Donna Baker, told me that Peggy's father drowned and that he owned a store in Hastings, Barry Co., MI. She also said that the family had lived there a long time. My mother also said that while Peggy was fighting with her husband, Elton, who we all called Bud, Peggy said that their child didn't belong to Elton. (She was pregnant at the time) They were later divorced. Peggy visited Elton's parents (Elton Channing Baker and Pearl Gifford) at their farm in Coldwater, Calhoun Co., MI. and had his picture taken with my grandparents. Her son, "Bobbie" stayed a week there, when he was about eight years old, and they also visited when they (grandparents, Elton and Pearl Baker)lived at 212 Duryears Pt. Mi. Center, Jackson Co., MI. (Ve! ry unusual if the child has no blood connection.) My grandmother, Pearl, always kept their pictures in our family album and believed that Bobby was her first grandson. I'm including his picture in case you reconize him, I also have another picture in our album with no names on it, that I know nothing about which might be him as it was taken in Hastings. The boy was named, Robert "Bobbie" Baker and attended Howl Or Howe Military School. After the divorce, I don't know if Peggy kept that name or went back to her maiden name. If "Bobby" even finds this message, I've left a trail for you. Just click on my name, and you'll find your father's family. Michael C Kelley (Kelly) was born in Battle Creek, MI in 1857. He "may" have had a brother named Patrick who was born in Ireland. Michael also had a sister named Ella, also born in MI about 1862. The 1860 Census shows both a Michael (1857) and a Patrick (1859), but it's from Genesee County. To further muddy the waters, there may also be a half brother, William H Kelley!
