I had found these sources also. Unfortunately, the LDS information is faulty as to the birth year and death dates of Saxton Seth Acker. They are off according to his death certificate, obituaries, and family notes. As his death certificate lists Maria Farnsworth as his mother and only Acker as his father, I am hoping to locate a more valid source. In fact, I have found numerous errors on the IGI sources on the LDS site. But thank you again. Unfortunately, it is impossible to travel to Michigan and search the records. Shirley was born in Battle Creek on February 8, 1946, the daughter of Edward and Ethel (Delaney) Gray. Those that were fortunate enough to have known Shirley will forever remember her vivacious spirit and keen sense of humor. A born nurturer, Shirley cared for countless friends, family members and animals. She would say that her greatest accomplishment in life was her son, Chad M. Nelson, who survives her. Whether it was hand-stitched Halloween costumes or the red wagon concession stand that accompanied every soccer game, Shirley excelled as a loving and supportive mom. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1964 and received her bachelor degree from Western Michigan University in 1970. Shirley later returned to Western Michigan University where she attained a Master in Occupational Therapy in 1990. She was most recently employed as a Medical Transcriptionist at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Shirley was preceded in ! death by her parents; and sister, Patricia Gray. She is survived by her son and his wife (her "new Spanish daughter"), Marisa Filgueras; and her brother, Dr. Douglas Gray. Her friends Jerry Lash and Linda Nelson, and ex-husband and friend, Rodney Nelson, were all instrumental in taking care of her in the past few weeks. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be invited to a celebration of her life at a later date. A memorial plaque will be placed at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan at 2500 Watkins Road, Battle Creek, MI 49015 or to SPCA of Southwest Michigan at PO Box 2676, Portage, MI 49081. Hoping that some of a more experienced researcher may help. I am attempting to find evidence that Warren J. Acker was the father of Saxton Seth Acker who is my grandfather. He was born 04 March 1845 at Marshall, Calhoun, MI. I have a notebook of his in which he listed names and dates. The first name is Warren J. Acker and this second name is Julia Rap. The date he wrote for their wedding is after my grandfather's birth and family history is that Saxton's mother died when he was four or five. I find numerous census accounts of Warren and Julia and the other names written by my grandfather. Except I find nothing linking my granfather and his eldest brother, Charles Bingley Acker, to Warren. Neither can I find the name of the first wife of Warren. On my grandfather's death certificate, my mother has written the name Maria Farnsworth. Warren moved to a farm in the vicinity of Fredonia, Calhoun, MI in 1836 and died at Tekonsha in 1888. He was born at Y! ates, Orleans, New York, in 1810 or 1811. This information is from an very old newspaper obituary that has been saved. No name or date of the newspaper was recorded. The obituary states that Warren had two wives and was survived by eight children. So, as you see, I can find a great deal concerning the individuals but find no record to tie the two together Warren and Saxton. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thank you.
