    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. My John Kerstetter family lived in Leroy Township on the 1870 & 1880 Census (Ancestry.com has them indexed as Kaslator on the 1870 census). I have a copy of the 1873 Leroy Township Atlas which shows J Kerstetter owning land in the SW/4 of the NW/4 of section 33. The 1894 Atlas shows this same land owned by D.D. Rishel (which is John Kerstetter's wife's family). I'd like to find records related to this land, and any other tidbits of information available about the family (other than the census, marriage & death records that I already have). *John KERSTETTER (b. about April 1822 PA, d. 13 Feb 1913, St Joseph County, MI) *Mary (Rishel) KERSTETTER (b. 30 Sep 1828, d. 11 Dec 1901, St Joseph County, MI) *John S KERSTETTER (b. 26 Dec 1849 PA, d. 21 Aug 1924, St Joseph County, MI. This record gave me his death date as Oct 3, 1882. The October 4, 1882 local newspaper in a tiny notice observed that he committed suicide, having been "partially insame for some time." His wife Maria from the death index died July 13, 1885. No obit could be found, so their burial locations remain unknown. Their other siblings were; Rosa [Thompson] and Jennie [Brown?]. Their parents, my great-grandparents were John H. Swarthout and Emma [Parks] Swarthout. Dennis and I are hot on the trail, as of July 2007, for their burial sites, in Battle Creek. We definitely have Julia's & Charles at Reese Cemetery in BC, and possible findings of Rosa, Jennie and Emma's at Memorial Park in BC. Further to come. Dean born about 1870, possibly in Assyria Twp., Barry, Co. where they lived for many years... Lorenzo and Laura then moved to Battle Creek, Calhoun, Michigan (1900-1920 census) where it is possible Laura died; on 1930 census (07 April 1930), Lorenzo is widowed and living as a lodger in the hhd of a Hurston family. I am not sure when or where he died - have not found that as yet. Information on Laura Ann from marriage record is that she was born in Herkimer County, New York.
