Mr. Wilmer was born July 12, 1944, in Hillsdale, to Thomas E. and Genevieve C. (Reader) Wilmer. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1962 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Wilmer married Pamela Smith in Litchfield August 19, 1967. She survives. Mr. Wilmer was employed by the Hillsdale County Sheriff's Department for more than 25 years, and currently was the undersheriff. He was a member of the Michigan Sheriff's Association, Litchfield Athletic Boosters, was a former member of the Litchfield Community Schools Board of Education, served as an assistant junior varsity football coach for many years, was a hunter safety instructor, a 911 Emergency Dispatch Board alternate and was a Sheriff's Posse Liaison. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Kristine M. (Wilmer) Blonde and Mrs. Bruno (Kelly A.) Baermann, both of Litchfield; two sons, John and Joseph Wilmer, both of Litchfield; one brother, James M. Wilmer of Stanton; two grandchildren, Joshua and Elli Blonde; a mother-in-law, (Anita) Pat Smith of Litchfield, and cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Visitation was Tuesday from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the George White Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services are today (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. in the Litchfield High School gymnasium, with the Revs. Kathy Brown and Clyde Wonders officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Litchfield. Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Hillsdale County or the Tom Wilmer Memorial Scholarship Fund. Mrs. Drumm was born July 13, 1932, in Ray, Indiana, to Harry and Helen (Wagoner) Armstrong. She graduated from Homer High School in 1952. She married Donald E. Drumm June 20, 1959. He survives. Mrs. Drumm enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, bingo and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of "The Chubs Club" in Addison. In addition to her husband, survivors include five daughters, Mrs. David (Sheila) Frost of Mt. Home, Arkansas, Mrs. Mike (Wendy) Wheeler of Homer, Sheryl Fulton of Angola, Indiana, Mrs. David (Louise) Boehlke of Albion, and Julie Jeffrey of Homer; two sons, Donald E. Drumm, Jr. and Michael (Paula) Drumm, both of Homer; two brothers, Robert (JoAnn) Armstrong of Tennessee and Donald L. Armstrong of Homer; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two special nephews, Jack and Anthony Armstrong. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Darlene Ann. A complete obituary will appear in next week's Index. December 22, 1999 Howard Earl Dunham, 84, of Pulaski, died Sunday, December 12, 1999, at Albion Care Centre. Mr. Dunham was born October 5, 1915, in Pulaski Township, to Floyd and Bertha (Bates) Dunham. He married Louise Mansfield February 16, 1946. She preceded him in death in 1997. Mr. Dunham was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a farmer and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed cutting wood and dancing. He was engaged in custom combining. Survivors include a son Charles (Penny) Dunham of Hanover; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Mr. Dunham was preceded in death by a brother, Albert, and a sister, Mary DeForest. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 15, at the George White Funeral Home in Litchfield, with the Rev. Bob Marston officiating. Interment was in Pulaski Cemetery. Mr. Owens was born January 9, 1941, in Bell County, Kentucky, to Nathaniel and Reda Owens. He married Judy Patrick December 8, 1968. She survives. Mr. Owens lived most of his life in Homer. He was a collector of model cars and knives, and he enjoyed walking, bicycling and woodworking. In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Mary Owens of Albion; two sons, Bob (Melissa) Owens of Homer and Mark Owens of Albion; one sister, Elizabeth Stevens of Albion; three brothers, Luther Owens of Albion, John Owens of Concord and Nathaniel Owens of Albion; and six grandchildren. Mr. McCullough was born December 28, 1929, in Eckford Township, to Carleen and Elsie (King) McCullough. He married Mary Lou Machin July 22, 1951, in Homer. She survives. Mr. McCullough was a 1948 graduate of Homer High School. He was formerly employed by Union Steel Products in Albion, and later worked for Cal-Bay Farm Equipment, along with Howard Andrews. He also worked for Wonser Farm Equipment in Battle Creek, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church, a former National Guard member in Albion, a member of the Homer Lions Club, a former Cub Scout master, and a member of the Homer Parks and Recreation Committee. Mr. McCullough enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting and golf, and was very interested in Homer history. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mr. McCullough is survived by his daughter-in-law Sheri McCullough and two grandsons, Josh McCullough and Matt McCullough, all of Homer. He was preceded in death by his son Jeffery in February of 1999; two brothers, Earl and William; and a sister, Lillian. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 7, at the Homer Chapel of Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels, with the Rev. Linda Burson officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery, Homer. Mrs. Butters was born November 17, 1918, in Traverse City to Leon C. and Inez (Hoxie) Hammontree. She married Francis S. Butters July 24, 1937. He preceded her in death in 1989. She worked at Doris Grocery, Bascom Grocery, Young's IGA and Felpausch in Albion for 25 years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the West Eckford Missionary Church. She was a foster grandparent at Homer Elementary School for several years and enjoyed crafts and gardening. Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Purucker of Battle Creek; a son, Frederick (Joyce) Butters of Homer; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Hammontree of Boyne City and Jerry Hammontree of Homer; and six sisters, Phyllis Winnick, Betty Parker and Jean Rauch, all of Homer, Margaret Carolan of Sage Lake, and Marcia Butters and Doris McWatters, both of Homer. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Butters was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Hammontree, and a son, Richard F. Butters. Mr. Campbell was born October 27, 1934, in Calhoun County to Jimmie and Mabel (Wintersteen) Campbell. His first wife, Mildred Patterson, preceded him in death in 1983. He married Shirley Listemann in 1985. She survives. Mr. Campbell lived most of his life in the Litchfield area. He retired from Jackson Iron & Metal where he had been a truck driver for 12 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a former member of the Moose and Eagles lodges, and he enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing and hunting. Mr. Martin was born November 24, 1943, in Coldwater, to Eldon and Gertrude (Barber) Martin. He married Janet Dale September 17, 1966, in Paris, Michigan. She survives. Mr. Martin lived in Homer for 55 years and worked for the Village of Homer. He was a past volunteer fireman for the village and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and people. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Victoria "Vicky") Kenyon of Albion, and Mrs. Stanton (Melissa) Friedrick of Concord; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Roger (Fran) Martin of Homer and Steve (Ann) Martin of Albion; two sisters, Mrs. Larry (Carolyn) Thomas of Tekonsha and Susan Martin of Homer. Mrs. Carranza was born December 3, 1928, in Lockhart, Texas, to Domingo and Maria Soledad (Partida) Guzman. She married Juan R. Carranza January 16, 1950, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and he preceded her in death April 23, 1994. Mrs. Carranza worked at the Fort Wayne sanitarium before coming to Albion in 1956. She also worked at area potato and onion farms. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Albion. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and watching television. She loved being with her grandchildren. Mrs. Carranza is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Juan Manuel (Juanita) Vasquez of Homer; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandy Ortiz of Albion; two brothers, Eristeo E. Guzman of Saginaw and Esi Guzman of Marshall; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Johnnie and Tony; a brother, Joe Guzman; and a sister, Petra Flores. Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from noon-5 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. - noon at the Homer Chapel of Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels. Mr. Hopp was born August 8, 1945, in Detroit, to Clayton and Monica (Williams) Hopp. They survive in Homer. He was married to Susan Parent, and she also survives. He graduated from Ann Arbor High School and was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the United States Army. He then graduated from Cleary College with a degree in business. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hopp is survived by a daughter, Megan Elizabeth; a grandmother, Louise Williams; a brother, Daniel Hopp; two sisters, Elizabeth Heller and Emily Salvette; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins. Memorial services were held at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati, Sunday, October 24. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Homer, Saturday, November 13. Mrs. McKeel was born May 25, 1909, in Puryear, Tennessee, to John Henry and Sallie (Taylor) McCormick. She married William W. McKeel August 4, 1934, and he preceded her in death November 26, 1995. Mrs. McKeel was a former resident of Ferndale, Northville and Homer, and wintered in Bradenton from 1973 until she became a permanent resident of Florida in 1993. She was a member of the Manitee Methodist Church, and a homemaker who loved to spend time with family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, square dancing, traveling and entertaining. She was a former sales clerk for the J.L. Hudson Corporation, a Girl Scout leader and a member of the O.E.S. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Lois McKeel; a grandson, Chuck (Lisa) Pratt; and two great-grandchildren, Gregory and Michael Pratt, all of Milan. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Joe Denver McCormick; her twin brother, Louis McCormick; and a grandson, Timmy Pratt. Mrs. Draper was born May 6, 1899, in Mobile, Alabama, to George and Flora (Schutt) Shanaberger. She first married Cloyd Williams, and then Melvin W. Draper, both of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Draper came to the Homer area in the 1940s from Jackson. She was a housewife, helping on the farm. She belonged to the Free Methodist Church at Pulaski and had been a member of the Jackson Sweet Adelines. She was a Gold Star Mother and belonged to the Willing Workers Club at Fisher's Corner. She is survived by two daughters, Marcella Bronson of Homer and Berneice Warner of Tucson, Arizona; a son, Charles R. Williams of Brookston, Indiana; and several grand-, great-grand-, and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, Mrs. Draper was preceded in death by a son, Jack Williams, and a daughter, Irene Windle. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 2, at the Homer Chapel of Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels. Burial followed in Fisher Cemetery. Mrs. Martin was born September 28, 1922, in Sharon, to Raymond and Esther (Anderson) Barber. She married Eldon Lee Martin July 21, 1941, and he preceded her in death September 13, 1980. She enjoyed walking, needlework and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Martin is survived by three sons, Larry (Janet) Martin and Roger (Fran) Martin of Homer and Steven (Ann) Martin of Albion; two daughters, Carolyn (Larry) Thomas of Tekonsha and Susan Martin of Homer; a brother, Clifford Barber of South Boardman; a sister, Marie Tinker of Grand Rapids; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Eloise Densmore. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Martin was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Martin. Graveside services were held Saturday, October 30, at Fairview Cemetery in Homer with the Rev. Mr. Neal was born September 19, 1945, in Albion, to Clarence John and Vera (VanDyke) Neal. He married Loretta Blair March 7, 1964, in Homer. She survives. Mr. Neal was a resident of the Calhoun County area his entire life. He worked at Alfab, Union Steel, Albion Malleable, Althaver Chevy and Brookside Auto, retiring in 1986. He was a former volunteer fireman for Tekonsha and a former coach for the Demon fast pitch softball team of Marshall. He was a member of the Marshall Moose Lodge and the Horseshoe League of the Moose, and the Albion Eagles. He enjoyed bowling and stock car racing. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Alton (Karlene) Neal II of Union City, and Larry (Shondel) Neal of Tekonsha; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Penny) Parker of Gaylord, and Mrs. Brian (Pamela) Edwards, of Homer; seven grandchildren; five brothers, Clarence J. Neal of Alabama, Robert Neal of Albion, James Neal of Marshall, Harold Neal of Burr Oak, and Donald Neal of Alabama; and three sisters, Loretta Maynard of Niles, Lucille Roberson of Kalamazoo and Linda Stafford of Alabama. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Irene Williams, Frances Donke, Caroline Neal and Edith Neal. Mr. Elliott was born July 29, 1970, in Lima, Ohio, to Herman and Sally (Meeks) Marshall. They survive in Litchfield. He graduated from Albion High School in 1988. In addition to his parents, Mr. Elliott is survived by three sisters, Michelle Bryant and her fiancée Robert Burlew of Tekonsha, and Brenda Kidd and Cheryl Marshall, both of Owosso; two brothers, Tim Marshall of Tekonsha and Phil Kidd of Owosso; his grandfather, George Meeks of Litchfield; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Marshall. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the George White Funeral Home in Litchfield, with the Rev. Clyde Wonders officiating. Mrs. King was born April 10, 1941, in Breathitt County, Kentucky, to Rollie and Mossie (Ketchum) Hollon. She married Robert King in Jackson, Kentucky, in 1956. He survives. Mrs. King lived in the Homer area since 1974. She worked in various nursing homes in the area. Mr. Folk was born June 18, 1921, in Coldwater, to Louis Henry and Bessie Jane (Byers) Folk. He married Doris J. Shaffer July 4, 1943 in Decatur. She survives. Mr. Folk was a life resident of the area and graduated from Homer High School. He was a World War II Air Force veteran and was a prisoner of war. He was the president of Folk Oil Company until his retirement. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Homer, the Lions Club, the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed his woodworking, his time in Florida and especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Michael J. (Susan J.) Linton of Lapeer; a son, Richard D. (Jan) Folk, of Homer; five grandchildren, Brett, James and Keri Linton of Lapeer, and Thyra and Deanne Folk of Homer; six sisters, Lorene Yost of Leesburg, Florida, Lucille Miller of Homer, Mrs. Samuel (Elizabeth) Neufer of Albion, and Mrs. Vernon (Glenna) Fast, Mrs. Harry (Jeanne) Cutcher and Mrs. Donald (Charleen) Streets, all of Coldwater. Mr. Folk was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Griffiths. Visitation is today (Wednesday) after 9 a.m. at the Homer Chapel of Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels. Funeral services are Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Homer with the Revs. Charlotte Poetschner and Larry Fulton officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
