Her parents were Henry (1833) and Fidelia (1834) Bliss and her siblings were Nellie (1859), Giles (1861), Elva (1863), and James (1873). I came across this information as I was doing a project involving about 2100 people living in and around the Albion area from the 1830s to 1932.

The Allen County Public Library Historical Genealogy Department is one of the major genealogy research libraries in the nation. The cost is $20.00 per person. There is still space available for last minute attendees. Jennette Powers is a sister of my gg-grandfather Oscar Powers (source is her gg-grandaughter) from the Homer/Tekonsha area. Oscar and Jennette's father was Philander Powers - I've not been very successful in tracking back any further than their NY roots. I recently moved into a Marshall house that is thought to be one that Lou Brooks built for his sons, one of whom is named Charles. The dates don't work quite right for this to be so (Charles would have been only 4 when the house was built), I am still trying to figure it out. I was looking for Brooks info when I saw you reference to a Powers. Do you think we have a connection?

No parents for Richard were recorded on his death record. "Charaty Pier" in the 1880 Census is found in Emmet County in northern Michigan living with her daughter Alvira and son Charles Cook and their 2 little girls.

    3. My ggg grandfather was Bartlett "Bart" Irwin. I just got his Pension file back and it lists his place of birth as being Newburg, NY. I am assuming that this is in Orange County. He date of birth is supposed to be 15 Aug 1840 or 1841. The pension papers were in the name Bartlett Irwin but said that he had signed up as William Bartlett. It stated that he used that name as an alias!!! I have found him in : 1850 (Calhoun) MI, Battle Creek Village, hh #112/112 1860 (Calhoun) MI; Marengo, hh #1059/987 (Using alias of William F. Irwin) 1870 (Washington) KS; Washington twp., hh#80/80 1880 (Crawford) AR Mountain twp. family 73 1900 (Crawford) AR; Whitley twp, hh#127/124 1910 (Crawford) AR, Sandpoint twp hh#46/46 According to his pension application he moved from Washington D.C. in 1864 to Alexandria, VA in the same year, then to Point Lookout, MD same year, then Battle Creek, MI for about a year, Washington, KS abt 14 years. Anther paper also mentioned Seneca, KS and then he died in Crawford County, AR. I believe the following to be a possible family group. Does any of this seem familiar to you? Age 64 Of Richland Passed from this life on earth to eternity in heaven suddenly on Monday, May 3, 2004 at his home. Mike was born August 1, 1939 in Battle Creek, the son of John P. and Sophie (Tomak) Michela. Mike was a lifelong resident of Battle Creek until 1993, when he relocated to Richland. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1957, and then enlisted in the Air National Guard, where he was a reconnaissance photo interpreter. After an honorable discharge from the Air Guard, he began working at Post Cereals. Mike retired from Post (Kraft Foods) after 37 years, where he worked as an Electrician for 23 years and a Maintenance Supervisor for the remaining 15 years. Mike married Trudy LeFevre on December 20, 1985 and lovingly took on the step-dad responsibilities of her 3 sons, Tad, Brad and Chad. Mike and Trudy loved to travel and spent the winters in Florida. Mike also loved working on cars, his remodeling projects and walking his dog, Abbey, a golden retriever. He is surviv! ed by his wife, Trudy; 3 sons, Tad (Rachel) LeFevre, Brad (Valorie) LeFevre and Chad (Lisa) LeFevre; 4 grandchildren, Katie, Luke, Gage and "Baby"; an aunt, Mary Staib; an uncle, Buzz Wegner; and many cousins. Mike supported several charities and has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Paws with a Cause or Lifespan Hospice. A "Celebration of His Life" will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 7, 2004, at the First Wesleyan Church, with a luncheon to follow. The family cemetary is McCormick Cemetary in Highland Township, southwest of Highland Center Iowa. Family tradition has it that they camped on the banks of Cedar Creek on their way to Oregon. Those who died were buried along the creek and many who stayed were named Giltner, Stevens and McCormick (namesake of cemetary). Please send me what information you have.
