I am stuck and have been for months on a marriage between an F.O. Wilder and a Mary J Shephard in 1856. I then have a Mary J Wilder getting married to John C Wilde in 1864. I wonder if FO and Frank arn't the same person. Can you shed any light on this? Do you have anything in those manuals for Calhoun County on FO Wilder, Frank WIlder, Mary Shephard Wilder / Wilde, Julia Wilde or John Cornell Wilde? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Is there any other information in the ledger book such as F.O.'s age? I am a little stuck, I have a document written by a first hand family member stating that a JOHN C WILDE married JULIA SHEPHARD, she died and he then married MARY J SHEPHARD, her sister. Now, trying to backup that statement, I found a reference in a marriage database on the MiGenWeb for Calhoun county stating that MARY SHEPHARD married F.O. WILDER in 1856. Then JOHN C WILDE married MARY J WILDER in 1864. The reason I am stuck is because my great Grandfater CHARLES E WILDE has Mary J Shephard and John C Wilde as his mother and father on his death certificate. But we believe since, he was born in 1860 (4 years before MARY WILDER and JOHN C WILDE were wed) that he may actually be the son of F.O. WILDER, not JOHN C WILDE. Which would really thow a twist into the family. Not to mention was the actual mother Julia and she died? Boy do I feel sorry for all of the future genealogists with the divorce and seperation rates we have today! How confusing it will be for them! Thank you for all of your help in advance!

I *think* there was a Whitcomb in Calhoun or Branch County who was perhaps a minister of the Gospel? Not sure about the latter. I do have a Sophia A. Whitcomb who married my great great Grandpa, Andrew J. Demarest, Civil War Veteran. She was his second wife (I'm descended from the first wife). I believe she was divorced from her first husband who was Joseph Hurley. Sophia A. Whitcomb was the daughter of George Whitcomb. According to Andrew J. Demarest's civil war papers, George's post office address on the 13th of March, 1917 was 32 West Montgomery Street, Coldwater, Michigan. He was 85 years old at that time. I have Sophia Whitcomb Demarest's autograph in my grandmother's autograph book circa 1913 - 1914. No mother listed for Sophia Whitcomb but Sophia is shown as born in Batavia (where is that???) in 1851 and died in Batavia on August 19, 1920. She was married June 10, 1893 in Batavia. G.D. Whitcomb (apparently Sophia's father) officiated. He was listed as a clergyman. Witnesses to the marriage included H. Cogginton, Batavia, Michigan, and Effie Hurley, Batavia, Michigan.
I have some notes that state my gr gr grandfather [Daniel D. Bentley served in Civil War] was staying in the Soldiers Home in Albion. However, I cannot find a Soldiers Home in Albion on the internet. Anyone have info about this home? Thank you.

A slight change of plans for everyone joining the tour of the new Helen Warner branch library tomorrow (Tuesday, June 25th) with the Calhoun County Genealogical Society. The new branch library closes at 8 p.m., and to ensure that we have maximum time at the library, we are going to reverse our plan. We shall meet at the library at 7 p.m. for the tour, when the library closes at 8 p.m., we shall continue across the street to the Minges Brook Athletic Club for the library overview. Dear List, I am trying to discover the Irish origins of Moses HENDRICKS/HENDRIX/HENDRYX, who lived in Marshall and Fredonia., ca. 1850-1870. He had a wife Mary, a son Andrew, and a daughter Mary. The children eventually moved to Colorado, where Andrew's death certificate stated that his mother was Mary REDMOND. I believe, but this is just a guess based on the 1880 census, that Mary's parents were Mordecai and Margaret REDMOND. The one record source that I have not yet explored is that of Catholic church records. Can anyone identify a Catholic parish in Marshall or Fredonia, or a diocesan archive, to which I might write for help? Any help will be greatly appreciated by Rick Sherman Kensington, CA
