She married Walter C. Hemry June 17, 1961, and he survives. Also surviving are her 5 daughters, Kay (David) Mitchell of Battle Creek, Karn (Bill) Cunningham of Mattawan, Cindy (Chris) Schweitzer of Battle Creek, Sherry Hemry of East Leroy, and Nancy (Tom) Chandler of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Tony Mitchell, Brian Mitchell, Amy McCleery, Andrew Schweitzer, Ryan Chandler, Tara Harrell and Lucy Cunningham; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Schrock of Battle Creek; and several dearly loved nieces and nephews and many kind and loving friends. That information means that the portrait I have of a young woman of 16-19 years, passed down from my grandfather, is almost certainly that of my great-grandmother, Minnie Mohr... My grandfather's baptismal certificate said she was from Bay City, but I had no luck finding her or her family there -- perhaps she was born there but grew up in Battle Creek. Now I have a new place in which to search for her and possibly even her marriage to Alfred Feltz, an actor. Thank you!

Age 82 Of Battle Creek Passed away Monday, September 27, 2004 at home. He was born April 2, 1922, in Lawrence, MI, the son of Harry and Opal (Butcher) Dillenbeck. Roger attended Lawrence Public Schools, and also worked on his family's farm. He enlisted in the United State Army on September 28, 1942, where he served as an orderly and litter bearer until medical conditions gained him an honorable discharge in 1943. Following his military service, Roger worked at the American Legion Hospital in Battle Creek. In November of 1943 he joined the Post Division of Kraft General Foods, where he worked as a cooker operator until retiring in 1979 with 35 years of service. While with Post Cereals he worked part time and later full time with Royal Funeral Home for 20 years, until retiring in 1984. Roger married the former Virginia (Van Hout) Potter on April 9, 1955. She survives him. Roger was well known for his commitment to community and veteran's organizations. In 1959 he was instrumental in establishing and! organizing a Military Funeral detail for veterans in Battle Creek and the surrounding area. Some of the first detail participants were patients from the VA Medical Center. Roger worked with them and trained them. This detail provided pallbearers, honor guard, taps, and the rifle squad for their comrades final resting. For many of the funerals Roger officiated as chaplain. This burial detail was established through the Battle Creek United War Veteran's Council, of which Roger has been a member since 1958, and served as both Chaplain and Commander. Before his retirement, Roger would take time off from work to provide these service to his fellow veterans. In 1976, he received the "Veteran's Friend Award" from the Battle Creek United War Veteran's Council. The Battle Creek Enquirer recognized his honor guard efforts by selecting him as a George Award recipient on April 26, 1987. He was also been an active member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #7 since 1955. He has h! eld many offices in that organization, including Chaplain, State Chapl ain, and Commander. He was also a Life Member of American Legion Post #298. Roger held offices with and was a member of the Woodman of the World Life Insurance Society since 1955. Through this society he was instrumental in local schools, churches and businesses receiving American flags and history plaques. Roger was a member of the Post 25 Year Club and the Post Balloon Club. He was also active with the Veteran's Affairs Volunteer Service at the VA Medical Center. Roger has given so much of himself to so many people over the years. This is especially true of his love and devotion to his family. He was always there for us no matter what the circumstances. Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughters, Judy Belles of Battle Creek, Isabel "Tobby" Potter of Battle Creek, and Karen (Leon) Piper of Climax. He also leaves his sister, Mary (John) Timkovich of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, one step-granddaughter and o! ne step-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert E. Potter in 1979; and sisters, Alice Haney, Paula McGuire, and Sarah Tinker. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at ROYAL FUNERAL HOME 281 Upton Ave. at Dickman Rd Battle Creek, MI where the family will receive visitors from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2004 at First Assembly of God. Interment with Military Honors will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Mensch was the son of Cora T. (Sprague) Mensch. In 1920, Cora was living with her father, brother, nephew and her three children in Scipio, Hillsdale Co., MI. There is a John M. and Lucinda Mensch also living in Scipio Township. They are 60 and 54 respectively. They had three children and two are still living. Possibly Cora was married to a son who died?

Jr. Of Battle Creek Passed away Monday morning, September 20, 2004 at Fort Custer's Veteran's Hospital after a brief illness. George was born in Kanton, Ohio, on February 23, 1959. He came to live in Battle Creek in 1963. Here his "Mom & Dad" Clarence and Zora Brookmyer raised him. George was a happy, fun loving, and energetic child. George graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1977. He then attended St. Thomas Aquinas College in St. Paul, MN for two years. Those who knew George well also know that next to his love of his family was the love he had for his country and the Military. George proudly served in the United States Air National Guard's 110th at Fort Custer, for 25 years, until his retirement in October of 2003. George was a security officer for the Air Force. He proudly served in Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and on numerous other occasions. In George's tenure with the Air Force he was highly decorated and admired by all. He always gave everyone! the benefit of the doubt, and was always able to push his men and women to be the very best. George was preceded in death by his mother Zora (1986) and father, Clarence (1991). He leaves behind a large loving family, including his sisters, Mary Hesser of Kalamazoo, Jennifer Horn of Pompano Beach, FL, Jackie Macintyre of Denver, CO; and sister-in-law, Sandy Brookmyer of Union City. Also a brother, Garrett Brookmyer of Gull Lake survives. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, including three very special nephews, Todd Brookmyer of Battle Creek, Joseph Brookmyer Jr. of Fulton, and Jeff Brookmyer of New Boston, MI. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Phillips Catholic Church, Battle Creek at 10:30 Friday, September 24, with interment at noon at Fort Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. As cremation has already taken place, a celebration of George's life will immediately follow the burial at Garrett's home. She enjoyed cooking, baking cookies, dancing, shopping, and hosting family get-togethers. Marie and her husband moved to Florida in 1977. She was employed by Publix Supermarket in Haines City, FL for ten years until returning to Michigan in 1988. Since returning to Athens, she spent her time enjoying her family, to whom she had dedicated her entire life. Marie was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who had a generous! , loving nature and a good sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, Ann Card of Battle Creek, MI, Barbara (Randy) Spottek of Mason, MI, Connie (Brian) Roe of Athens, MI, and Albert (Julie) Barnebee of Athens, MI; grandchildren, Matthew Spottek of Union City, Diana Spottek of Mason, Joseph Barnebee of Climax, Michael (Teresa) Barnebee of East Leroy, Lisa Barnebee of Battle Creek, Eric (Keri) Roe of Athens, Amy Roe of Middleville, Angel (Issac) Rapson of Battle Creek, Emily (Chris) Hopwood of Bryan, TX, and Jacob Cain of Addison, IL; precious great-grandchildren, Cody and Emily Barnebee, and their mother, Kim Barnebee of Albion, Julia and Sara Barnebee of East Leroy, Gavin Carr and his father, Shaun Carr of Battle Creek, and Sophia Rapson of Battle Creek. Additionally, she is survived by sisters, Geneva Lammers of Battle Creek, and Glenna Haines of Galesburg. Surviving sisters-in-law include, Jean Barnebee of Vi! sta, CA, Mary Jane Walkley of Ocala, FL, and Kathy DeKilder of Haines City, FL; also numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-three years, Moses "M.T." Barnebee, on February 10, 1989; granddaughter, Catherine Eileen Cain, August 15, 1977; brother, Clyde DeKilder of Haines City, FL; sister, Genevieve Maile of Galesburg; and son-in-law, John Card of Battle Creek; brother and sisters-in-law, Seymour and Gertrude Smith of St. Johns, MI, Carl and Katholine Mowry of Battle Creek, Harold "Herb" Haines of Galesburg, Merl Lammers of Battle Creek, Oliver and Margarette Javery of Warren, MI, Paul Maile of Galesburg, Albert James "A.J." Barnebee of Vista, CA, and Dr. R.A. "Bud" Walkley of Ocala, FL. The family gives special thanks to granddaughter Amy Roe, care provider, Angie Vosburg, Dr. Gould and staff.     3. Hello Just learned that an ancestor Keith Boorn who d. June 24, 1988 is buried in the Oak Hill Cem. Would anyone have listings for this cemetery and could check to see if he is buried with his first wife Florence Boorn. She was born 1912 and died between 1951 and 1978. Thanks for any help Sue
