Write Calhoun County for birth, marriage and death certificates. That will give you a good start. The County Clerk has birth, death and marriage records . The address is County Courthouse, Marshall, MI 49068. You could also go to your local genealogical library and look at the new Handy Book for Genealogists, which has web sites for the counties and much more information. Flo

Am unsure if this is the same person. However, a John Jenkins lived in Owosso, Shiawassee County, MI in the earlier 40s. Might check there. He would have been attending Owosso High School at the time, which seems about right, considering his birth date. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, December 12, 2004 9:46 PM Subject: [micalhou] JOHN B. Shirley, Can you give us a hint at the time frame ? About WHEN was your father born in Battle Creek ? Where did they live when YOU were born, and year ? We can hunt and hunt, but without any timeframe to work with, it's impossible for us to know if we find the correct people or family. Thanks, Mary in Tx. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, December 14, 2004 11:58 AM Subject: [micalhou] looking for family history > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RFB.2ACE/1795 > > Message Board Post: > > I AM SHIRLEY. Hi, Shirley, From the 1910 census records, I find that Albert lived in the household of Frank, a farmer, and Rosa Galoner, both of whom immigrated from Austria. The census indicates that by 1910 Rosa had given birth to 6 children, and 4 were living. Besides Albert, 17, there were also Frank Jr., 24, George, 19, and Anna, 14. They were living in Mt. Forest, Bay Co., MI in 1910, and Frank and George were definitely there in 1920, living next to each other. However, the census also shows it's the second marriage for each of the parents and that they've been married four years. Frank immigrated in 1891, Rosa possibly in 1899 (hard to read). I can't be positive whose children these are, Frank's or Rosa's. Because of transcription difficulties, it'll take me a little longer to find the remaining census images. This is a start for you, though! In 1920 George, 29, was married to a woman named Anna, 25, and they had a daughter under 1 year old named Agnes. Anna was born in Michigan of Russian parents.
