She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from Michigan State University in 1938. After receiving a teaching certificate, she taught Home Economics at Home Community Schools for 19 years. She also was an FHA Advisor during that time at Homer High School. On October 3, 1942 she married Howard S. Dye, he passed away on June 10, 1986. Surviving are four children- Bruce H. (Donna) of Nashua, NH, Dana L. (David) Houldsworth in Kalamazoo, Dale S. (Sheila) of Jackson and John L. (Cindy) of Colorado Springs, CO. She also has six grandsons, two granddaughters, two step granddaughters and seven great grand children; two brothers Andrew S. Davis of Albuquerque, NM and Paul W. Davis of Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Louise and Alcestis (Bett! y)! Elizabeth Hardy and her parents, Andrew R. Davis and Sarah C. Davis. She was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist of Boston and First Church of Christ Scientist of Albion, Homer Historical Society and the Homer Women's Monday Club. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing and crafts, especially primitive rug hooking and cooking. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, January 6, 2005 from 4-7 PM at the Homer Chapel of Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels. Funeral service will be Friday, January 7, 2005 at 2:00 PM at the Homer Chapel with Howard H. Huffman officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery. Eliza Jane SHAW was born in Palmerston, Ontario Canada in the 1870s. Her brother, my grandfather, was Harry SHAW. Eliza married J. Foster and lived in Battle Creek. They had a daughter Opal who married ???? Healy. My mother Jean, used to correspond with Opal. There was another sister who also settled in the states. My family tree just wouldn't be complete without Aunt Eliza. Any help would be appreciated so much. Thank you.
