He was born April 20, 1933, in Okemos, MI, to the late William Mackie Sr. and Mary Louisa Black. Bill's early years were spent helping his Dad in working the family meat packing business, doing chores on the family farm and working at Michigan Agriculture College, the predecessor to MSU. His hobbies were typical of a young man growing up in the Midwest in the pre WWII years. He graduated from Okemos High School in 1951. Bill joined the United States Navy due to the outbreak of the Korean War. He became a SeaBee and served throughout the Pacific. Bill moved to the Lake Odessa area in early 1960's and farmed for several years until working with Smith Bros & Velte, Co. from 1965 to 1989 and Wolverton Cattle Company from 1989 to 1997. In 1997, Bill started his own trucking company and moved to Battle Creek. He married the former Karen Peck and they worked to! gether for several years in the trucking industry up until her death in 2002. Bill then married the former Linda Susan "Sue" Alldaffer of Indiana in 2003. Bill is survived by his wife, Sue; his son, William (Kimberly) Black of The Woodlands, TX, Kenneth (Kathleen) Black of Grand Ledge, Darrell (Teresa) Black of Alto; daughter, Deana (John) Brownlow of Cascade, Darla Sutton of Lowell; step daughters, Shelly (Greg) Cole of the Battle Creek, Christy Peck, Deborah (Tim) Tucker of Oakwood, OH, Junetta (Ken) Dunakin of Oakwood OH; a multitude of loving grandchildren and great- grandchildren; sisters, Ada Meade, Jean (Lenneth) Britt and Margret (Wayne) Musbach and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Lou Ramsey and Georgia Kay Krieder and infant daughter, Ledonna. Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:30 P.M. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 A.M! . at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Burial will be in Fort Custer Nat ional Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds can be donated in his name to Starr Commonwealth and Boys and Girls Town. Of Portage Formerly of Marshall Passed away on December 15, 2006 at the Upjohn Health Care Facility in Kalamazoo. She was born on August 31, 1917 in Galesburg Michigan, along with a twin brother Roger, to Charles and Helena (Beattie) Skutt. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1937. After graduating she briefly worked at Eaton's, and the 5 & 10 Store in Marshall. On March 10, 1941 she was married to Robert Elyea . The couple were married for 53 years until his passing in 1994. Through the years, she belonged to several extension clubs in the Marshall and Marengo school districts. Her main joy in life though was taking care of her family and enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are her sons, Robert Jr. and Jane of Kalamazoo, Paul of White Hall; and daughter, Janette and Peter Eschman of Albaquerque NM; Grandchildren, Todd (Natalie) and Chad (Amy); step-grandchildren, Kim, Jill, Jody and Jennifer; She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Jacob and Brady; and 13 step gr! eat-grandchildren, Dustin, Antouine, Stanley, Jennifer, Kammie, Jacob, Ben, Gracie, Brandon, Austin, Amanda, McCulla, and Macie; Also surviving are a sister, Virginia (Jerry) Dunaway; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were two infants at birth and her husband, Robert. She also was preceded in death by her parents, her twin brother, Roger brothers, Walter and Charles Jr.; and sister, Eleanor; Cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial service at Oakridge Cemetery in Marshall will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home, 103 E. Mansion St., Marshall. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. The site says the cemetery is complete. I think she has them on a CD but not positive but it can't hurt to ask.

From a distance (I live in France) I have not been able to find a tombstone for him, although there are photos of several other family members' tombstones including his parents Issac B. Tiffany and Lucy Maria Wilcox.

Burl is my grand uncle, who I remember somewhat. I had his dates but had not yet located his burial spot. Most of my family is buried in Burr Oak Cemetery, Calhoun County and some in Stimpson Cemetery, also Calhoun County. I don't see an obvioius relation with the folks in Sand Lake Cemetery. Calvin H. "Tat" Tiffany is buried in Shelbyville, Shelby County, Kentucky. He died in 1937. I hold this information from M. Sue Wells who posted his obituary here. Are you related to the Tiffany family? If so, what is the connection. Rathbone Howe is listed in the Mortality Schedule for 1860 as having died June 1860 in Newton, Calhoun, MI. He was born abt 1789 in NY. He was listed as being widowed. There is a Rathbone Howe buried in OakHill Cemetery, Battle Creek in the lot owned/used by the family of Albert Howe b. 1815 in NY. The cemetery listing lists him as age 70 (6-17-1860) A Rathbunn Howe, in the 1850 census, is located in Homer, Cortland, NY at the age of 63 and born in CT, Also in this family was Nancy A. age 45, James A. age 18, Zadock age 15, Isaac age 14, Joseph age 12, Nancy M age 9 and James B age 7. These all had the last name of Howe and were born in NY. The 1860 census for Newton, Calhoun, MI lists Nancy A. Howe with Maria age 19, Clarissa age 6, James age 16 and Joseph age 23 all with the last name of Howe and born in NY
