Of Albion Passed away on January 4, 2007 from complications of Parkinson's. He was born June 7, 1926, in Albion, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Young Oakes and his father, Dr. Ellery A. Oakes. He is survived by his brothers, James and Peter Oakes; his wife, Jean Horn Oakes; his children, Stephen, James, Michael, Martha, Nancy, Carol and David, and 14 grandchildren. He joined the Navy in 1944 and at the wars end attended Albion College. There he met his wife, Jean, and they were married in December of 1947. They moved to Kalamazoo in 1978 where he was part owner of White Pigeon Paper Co. and continued to reside in Kalamazoo until his death. John served as president of the Kalamazoo School Board in the late 1980's, was a trustee of the Boxboard Research Group and the Bronson Management Services Corp., and of Albion College for 6 years. Memorial contributions can be made to a local charity of choice or to any of the Parkinson's Foundations. There will be no ! services until this summer. He was born December 1, 1930 in Burlington, VT, the son of Lawrence M. Zeno and Alice (Estey) Mason. Larry served in the US Army from January 13, 1949 to March 26, 1953 where he served at Ft. Custer. Following his military service he remained in Battle Creek where he owned a Standard Gas Station and then was employed by Oliver Electric. He was later employed by General Motors BOC Division for 23 years, retiring in 1988. Larry is survived by wife of 27 years, Reva (Schuyler) Zeno, Battle Creek, MI; sons, Rick (Rose) Zeno, Ceresco, MI and Randy Zeno, Battle Creek, MI; daughter, Sharon (Steven) Smith, Battle Creek, MI; step-son, Jeffrey (Michelle) O'Brien, Plainwell, MI; step-daughter, Sharon Mayer, Osceola, IN; brother, Marvin Zeno, Bristol, VT; sister, Norma (Allen) Kimball, Bristol, VT; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and first! wife, Bette Heckman. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debra Zeno and brother, Burton Zeno. He enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing, bowling, traveling, and time with his family. He was a member of the Gull Lake United Methodist Church in Richland. Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Thursday, December 28, 2006, 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Clemens, receiving a pin for 10 years of service at the Detroit Chapter of the American Red Cross in Mt. Clemens. She married Clinton A. VANNOTY ON May 1, 1926 IN Kalamazoo. After her marriage they lived in Battle Creek, Richland, and Mt. Clemens, returning t! o Battle Creek in 1978 upon her husband's retirement to be near her family. He survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Alice H. TRAYER of Richland; 3 grandchildren; Michael TRAYER of Jackson, Janet WILCOX and Kevin TRAYER of Richland; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph PARRY and two sisters, Marion PARRY FRANCISCO and Alice PARRY. Friends may call Thursday from 12 p.m. until service time at Shaw Funeral Home 2838 Capital Ave., S.W. (next to Bill Knapp's) Battle Creek. Services 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, Rev.
