    3. In 1854 Martin Byers sold 1 acre of land in Bainbridge Twp. Sec. 15, for $1 to 15 gentlemen for the purpose of a burying ground. The 15 men were referred to as a "society" in the hand written title. The fifteen men were: Levi WOODRUFF, Isaac YOUNG, Samuel McKEYES, Woodbridge C. GEORGE, Newton R. WOODRUFF, Philo WOODRUFF, Asaph WOODRUFF, George PETERS, David BYERS, John BYERS, Adam MILLER, George WISE, Edwin THOMPSON, David WOODRUFF & Horace McKEYES. If you are a descendant of any of these gentlemen you are part owner of the Byers Cemetery. According to the original title, the "burying grounds" belong "to their heirs and assigns forever". Please contact me if you are a direct descendant. We are hoping to get enough direct descendants to agree to have the township take over ownership of the cemetery. It has been the cause of some controversy in the past year and we would like to have all of the improvements we've made kept up. Thank you for any help you can give, I have heard from several descendants already. Marge Hess YETZKE yetzkejm@qtm.net "Life is not a dress rehearsal. Live before the road runs out of bricks"
