I've just started looking for my Smiths as I've just located the family of my "brickwall" William Wesley Smith b.1831 New York, d.1920 Minnesota. I knew he had some connection to Benton Harbor and Kalamazoo, but didn't know anything more until just recently. It seems his family came to Berrien Co. early (about 1838) and there were many of them (and they all stayed in the area). So I don't know a lot as yet, but would love to make a note of yours in case I find some connection. Thanks again for your note. I, too, have Murphys, but know nothing about them except they were from Co. Kerry, Ireland and settled in Washington Co., Wisconsin in the 1840s. Probably were also in NY at one time. Yes, there were too many of them to know if any are related to mine!
