    1. Re: [MIBERRIE-L] JACKSON families in the Galien area
    2. One of my genealogical Christmas wishes ... To connect with someone who is familiar with (or related to?) any of the following JACKSON family members listed below: * Jacob Jackson *** born abt. 1809, in Kentucky, or maybe Ohio * Samuel Jackson (Jacob's son) *** born Aug 31, 1840, in Marion, Grant Co,Indiana * Udell "Dell" Jackson (Samuel's son) *** born July 8, 1870, in Galien,Berrien Co, Michigan Jacob may have been married (at least) twice: (1) 1st marriage to Adeline ???; (2) 2nd marriage to Sarah ???. Sarah may have been married before "Jacob", either to: (a) ??? Stone; (b) ??? Kiser. Samuel's siblings include: (1) John (born abt 1842); (2) Patsy (born abt 1844); and (3) George (born abt 1848). Samuel's wife was Sophia Adeline Harrington (1842 - 1920). Sophia's first husband was James DeVoe. "Dell" had a half-brother, Charles E. DeVoe (1864 - 1957). "Dell" also had (at least) three sisters: (1) Bertha (Jan 1873 - Oct 1873); (2) Sarah M. (born Sept 20, 1874); and (3) Daisy Viola (born May 25, 1880), who married C. Horner. "Dell" was married to Maude E. Chase (1876 - 1960). Maude was married (at least) once after "Dell" to: (2) Joseph A. Riopelle. As you can see, I need lots of work (and help!) on my Jackson kin folk! 3. I hope you will warn people if you get a virus from them. I have received 4 viruses lately from 4 different areas of the country but my scanner caught all of them (I hope). I keep my scanner updated via McAfee Online Clinic. I would appreciate anyone on the list telling me if they have received a virus from my address. When your computer sends a virus for the 3rd time, you are off the Miberrie-L and SouthwestMichigan-L list. Yes, I realize this is not being done INTENTIONALLY, but TAKE PRECAUTIONS. A persons lack of consideration for your own computer data is not my concern. When it is being sent to list-subscribers and spread thru their computer, it becomes my concern. This is a tough decision to make but I have to do something. Other list owners are doing the same, so dont write and let me know I am the meanest in the land (again). I have personally received over 10 mails with virus attachments from subscribers of this list (7 different computers). There is a way to stop virus from being sent out from your computer and those methods have been discussed on this list at least twice that I remember. Someone please, send the instructions (not in attachment) to make changes to address books, etc. AND send in names of online virus assistance people can recieve. Norton, Mcafee, there are several others out there. Sincerely, Brenda Sears ListOwner ==== MIBERRIE Mailing List ==== Need help? Contact List Owner, Brenda at brenbee@aol.com

    1. [MIBERRIE-L] Suggestions for virus control
    2. This was sent to me and I feel it is worth putting out here for you all to read; the person who wrote it was kind to share their suggestions. Brenda ----------------start I have Norton AntiVirus 2000 and it has worked well for me (as far as I can tell ;-)  If you have access to a discount store such as Sam's, you can usually find a pretty good deal on such items.  The internet site wanted $40-$50 for it a couple of years ago, and I got it at Sam's for $10-$20.  It included an updater service which allows me to continually download the newest virus protections to my program for a whole year--they will even send reminders and announcements about them. Then each year for a small fee (mine was something like $4.99 the first year and $9.99 this year) they will renew the subscription to continue with the updates for another year without having to buy a whole new program that your computer would have to adjust to.

    2. Dee, I notify every one who has sent out a virus. What is really getting to me is that the same people continue not to monitor and it happens more than twice. So bone-up on viruses everyone, I have to set guidelines. Brenda

    2. Brenda your right, but also there is new people who are just learning about there computers and unknowingly get infected. I know some that are well versed in computers and they still some times get a virus. I hope you will notified the ones who do have a viruses. I have notified some and they never knew they had one. Some buy computers and just havent learned yet. Dee

    3. Good idea Brenda. Another virus scan (free) is antivirus.com (Trend). My McAfee did not catch my BadTrans worm and my cousin had the same trouble with his Norton on that one. We both update weekly or sooner, if we have a notification! Sometimes it pays to double scan with another company, like Trend. That's how I found my worm! - Caroline ----- Original Message ----- From: <BerrienCo@aol.com> To: <MIBERRIE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, December 06, 2001 10:10 Subject: [MIBERRIE-L] 3 strikes=off list for those releasing Virus - READ > I am now keeping track of emails from list subscribers which sends a virus to > my mailbox or to other subscribers (who tell me about it).
