YOu have always been helpful and I know with conversations on cemeteries you have given details about them, you would of only known if you went out to them. To bad people that bad mouth others can't do kind things for others instead. Thanks Daundra for all your hard work you have done. Dee p.s.Remember find facts before spouting about others. Thats how fights start and wars begin.

1. [MIBERRIE-L] From Daundra, everyone please read I need to clarify somthing.
2. Dear List This is the only way I can contact everyone. If you have visited Brenda's Berrien County site you will notice I have been giving her cemeteries I have recorded, to be put out on that site. ##Berrien County USGENWEB Project A remark was made to a friend of mine and I overheard it. This remark was made by a member of the Berrien County Genealogical Society at the Genealogical Book Fair, Saturday 03-23, in South Bend. The remark was that I had taken (stolen) the transcriptions of these cemeteries from BCGS as my own and placed them on that site. These remarks follow the fact that I have also received two junky, unsigned, yahoo e-mails, stating the same and calling me a thief. I just ignored the e-mails. But this was said in public to another lady. I am sure the girl who made that remark did not know I was standing right there. Inference was made that Brenda was in cahoots also. Let me assure you that these recordings are very carefully done and I did them. I have made every attempt to cross reference them with other records. I have not just gone out and copied tomb stone inscriptions and left it at that. I map the cemeteries, take pictures and in many cases have cleaned them up my self, with the help of other family and friends. We have reestablished the markers in many vandalized cemeteries in both Berrien and Cass Counties. I started collecting cemeteries back in the early sixties. Brenda has become a good friend and helpmate in many of my projects. She does not try and do cutthroat things for her glory. We share the same interest, to save the Berrien County history for those who will follow us. Why not keep it that way. You will find that helping others is helping you. To the girl that made the unkind remark, I do not know you. I am old enough to be you mother, possibility grandmother. Where are you getting this information? OK...off my soap box, Daundra

1. [MIBERRIE-L] Rutz Family
2. Hello All, I am still looking for information on the Rutz Family. I was on this list under a different name but got a bigger computer and forgot to check my mail on the other account. Actually, I should say that I have two accounts and this is the one that I use all the time now. I am looking for any information on Rutz, Frank E. Martin, and Gladys Farrar. I have more names but to numorous to mention. This is what I am currently working on. I have purchased a ticket to fly to Michigan on July 13th and will be there for a week. I would like some names of books and maybe some addresses of the local libraries to visit. I have two living Aunts that I will be trying to get information and photos from. I hear that I have ggrandparents (Martin) buried in Keeler cemetery and would like to know how far it is from Benton Harbor. My parents are in North Shore Memory Gardens and then grandparents in Crystal Springs cemetery. I left Michigan when I was 13 and now I am afraid that I don't know my way around. Once I get to Crystal and Territorial, I can find my Aunt but my knowlege stops there. I would also like to find a cemetery in the Royalton area or Bridgmen to find ggrandparents that are buried there some place but I don't know the names of the cemeteries. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it very much. This is a great list but so far not much help to me and my family names but I have received alot of info that I could use to look things up. 2. David
3. Hello, My g-grandmother's brother was Dr. William Clay BASTAR, who lived in Benton Harbor for many years until his death in 1921. His daughter, Margaret Ethel, married Don Bryant SEBASTIAN in the First Congregational Church, Benton Harbor on November 23, 1904. My family used to have a newspaper clipping that described the wedding, but we've lost it. Would anyone know how I might go about obtaining a copy of the article from a local newspaper? Also, if anyone has any knowledge of this family, I would love to hear from you. Thank you. David in Pennsylvania

1. Re: [MIBERRIE-L] Re:Local History Books
2. Hi, Vicki. Yes, I do have a copy of the book (purchased via eBay!) There is a section near the end of the book, about 30 pages in length, entitled "Members Received: 1844 - 1944". It lists names (of church members) and a year (when they joined the church?). Included is the entry: Lushbaugh, Mary Jane ..... 1866 <that's it, nothing more!> I thought at first that this was someone on my own extended family tree. But, I guess not. I have a Lily SWEM (daughter of Peter Emerson SWEM and Hannah Marie MAUDLIN)who was married to George L. LUSHBAUGH. All that I have on Lily and George is from the Galien Twp Cemetery book. I also have a Mary Jane SWEM (who was a sister of Peter Emerson SWEM above!). Mary Jane was married twice (1st, to Walter DeARMOND in 1858; 2nd, to F. B. CUTSHAW in 1864). The only other Lushbaugh family members that I have anything on are Ralph L. LUSHBAUGH (1890 - 1962) and Grace M. (???) LUSHBAUGH (1889 - 1982), again from the Galien Twp Cemetery book. Hope that helps you - maybe there are more detailed church records that might be available. Steve PS ... Do you know who Mary Jane LUSHBAUGH was? Are Ralph and Grace husband and wife? Warren Foundation (Three Oaks, Michigan) Approx. 230 pages; from the prehistoric period to the modern times (circa, 1930's); lots of illustrations, maps, and photos! 2. The Congregational Church of Three Oaks: 1844 - 1944 by Rev. Frederick Kuhns and Frederic Chamberlain published 1944, by the Edward K. Warren Foundation (Three Oaks, Michigan) Approx. 200 pages; a sort-of companion book to The Region of Three Oaks; the (then) 100 year history of this important religious institution, which included members named Warren, Chamberlain, McKie, Kaiser, Klute, Lushbaugh, Paddock, Pardee, Phillippy, Sandee, Savage, Sawyer, and more! 3. Berrien Bicentennial: 1776 - 1976 James T. Carney, editor published 1976, by Tesar Printing Company (Stevensville, Michigan) Approx. 300 pages; a brief history of the county overall, from prehistoric to modern times, followed by a series of local histories for each township, city and village in the county; lots of illustrations and photographs. 4. History of Berrien & Van Buren Co's, Michigan published 1880, by D. W. Ensign & Co (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) Approx. 550 pages; local histories (township by township); loads of illustrations and biographical sketches of prominent citizens. 5. History of Berrien County, Michigan Judge Orville W. Historical Sketches of Berrien County (3 volumes) by Robert C. Myers (Curator, 1839 Courthouse Museum) published 1988, 1989, 1994 Approx. 70 pages (each volume); loaded with interesting historical sketches, illustrations, and photos. 9. Historical Sketches of the Galien Woods published about 1940, by Frank D. Noggle Approx. 30 pages; the way it was, in days gone by, for the Galien Woods area. I have read and enjoyed all of the above, particularly the ones by Myers and the Berrien Bicentennial book. 2. There is a chapter of about 15 pages on Chickaming Township included in the book Berrien Bicentennial, edited by James T. Carney. It was published in 1976 by the Bicentennial Commission, Berrien County, Michigan, and printed by Tesar Printing Company, Stevensville, Michigan. There is not a specific section for Three Oaks, although there are separate subsections for Sawyer, Harbert and Union Pier. Eleven of the pages are taken up with black and white photos, mostly from Harbert, Lakeside and Union Pier. Kathy Crapo Lincoln, Nebraska (originally Buchanan, Michigan)

3. Hello, Thanks so much for your speedy reply to my question about the Holmer family. I have already written a letter to the address you sent. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Lillian's grandfather's family (RAMP) has eluded me for many years. Thanks again Shirley Berndt Albert Dusoe wrote: > Found no Lillian Holmer in Niles Phone Directory, but found L.B.
