Mary Ann SMITH b. ? Ohio. Their daughter Eliza Jane MURPHY b. 11 March 1864 in Bridgman, Berrien, Michigan; d. 6 July 1928 in Portland, Multnomah, Oregon. On 12 April 1884 in St. Joseph, Berrien, Michigan she married George David MONTGOMERY. If these connect with your MURPHY line, let me know. I can provide more info on Eliza's siblings and descendants. Would love to find more info on William and Mary Ann and ancestors, but a MURPHY-SMITH marriage is a little daunting to research! Coloma, Watervliet, and Niles area Clara BENTON (1860-??) married Samuel SHOUP (1850?-??) 03-09-1876 Caroline SHOUP (1881-1917) married George E PARTELLO (This man does not seem to exist! I can't find him anywhere exept on my husband's grandfather's birth record). Elizabeth SHOUP (1884-1968) married John SAVAGE (possibly out west somewhere as she was a Fred Harvey Girl for the railroad) Edna SHOUP (1891-1972) married Harry YOUNG (lived on Niles-Buchanan Road west of Niles) There may have also been a Samuel Shoup Jr (1877-??) and an Addie Shoup (1879-??). I have found birth records for them, but only Addie appears on the 1880 census and is gone by the 1900 census. On a later census, Clara claims to have had a total of seven children with five still living. Have seen Clapsaddle surname before, in LaSalle Co., IL. An attorney by that name did some probate work in 1922 for a relative. Kind of interesting to see an 'original' spelling. Is there a 'definition' for Klepsattel? Just wondering if there is method to the madness, soda speak...
