Pine Ridge Cemetery in Bay City, founded in 1858, is was abandoned many decades ago. The cemetery has been adopted by the Friends of Historic Pine Ridge Cemetery, a small group of volunteers who have been able clear the most of major overgrowth so grave markers can be seen once again. However, the damaged done by years of neglect and vandalism to markers and monuments is also apparent. Donations are badly needed to help in return of the burial grounds to a respectable condition. Pine Ridge is where many of Bay County's earliest pioneer families and Civil War veterans are buried.
