Your name has to be on the actual record in order to get a copy. Only parents and child can get copies. My experience in Bay county has been good with seeing marriages and deaths at the clerk's office. I would suggest contacting someone in the area - check out Genealogical acts of Random Kindness - or write to someone on the mailing list or message board who lives there. they might be willing to do a few easy lookups - especially an obit at the library - 1973 wasn't that long ago.
