    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: MaryFreel Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.michigan.counties.bay/4566.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The library has a room with 4 microfilm reader/printers, a copy machine and quite a large selection of Michigan sources and of course, Bay County resources. The deaths are indexed by the Bay County Genealogical Society from 1930 on and the marriages by groom or bride from 1857 on. I do lookups for RAOGK so am quite familiar with the resources available. The newspapers are microfilm arranged by date. They have a complete set from 1867 of the city directories on microfilm as well as the Sanborn fire maps of the city and several plat maps from the early 1900s. They also have microfilm of the 1884 and 1894 census for Bay County. If your relations might have been from the northern part of Bay County they have the Pinconning Journal indexed for births, deaths, etc. There are printed indexes of the cemeteries in the county--some are online also. There are several books with biographical data on a large number of early settlers and a vertical file with info specific to indus! try, churches, etc. taken from earlier newspapers. I'm sure I've forgotten some things but the librarians are very helpful in showing you the way. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
