Do you think he was related to your family. (I would love to share information about Peter's descendants, but am no help in his ancestors.) If your relatives are from the same area (Saginaw/Detroit) that may have been a reason to move. Also, I suspect that Peter may have fought in the Civil War, but have not discovered any records.
