My great grandfather, Ignace K. Schultz, ran a prosperous grocery store in the Polish south end of Bay City at 1111 Cass Avenue from 1896 to 1916 when he died suddenly. Would he have filed articles of incorporation or some other papers to start a business? As a business owner, would he have submitted some report to a state/county office each year? Would anyone know where I might begin to look for some records of his grocery business? I also know that he was associated with the Grocer's and Butcher's Association. Thank you.
