I didn't know any of her family info before, so thanks for the info in your post. Specifically, I am looking to find any children of her husbands' and herself. Albert Broe was my Great Uncle and I know very little about him. I have found his army record. Do you possibly have any more info that you could share? I am hoping that they had children that I could possibly contact. Thank you, kindly Carol Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Are you just starting searching your family tree? If so, join a local genealogy society even if you are in a different state or a different Michigan city. People will help you to learn how to find what you need to prove that you have the right people. You might want to buy (or borrow) a genealogy book. One that was recommended to me was Val Greenwood's A Researcher's Guide to American Genealogy. Also, there are different FREE tutorials for genealogy. I would look at the Mormon Church's website www.familysearch.org Also, genealogy.com http://www.genealogy.com/uni-begin.html Or just do a google search to find beginning genealogy guides. Whatever you do, document your sources (put down where you got the information such as a book or online or an obituary, death record, etc.) so you can evaluate it if you have conflicting dates, etc. Have you checked a local library to see if they have access to Ancestry? The library edition doesn't have all the same "stuff" that the home subscription does or so I have been told but it would be a start. Sometimes Ancestry has free subscriptions for a couple of weeks-you just have to make sure that you stop it as soon as the free period is up. Your tree looks okay but what proof are you using-marriage records, obits? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: Georgia1910 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.michigan.counties.bay/1384.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: On the transcribed 1894 State census for Bay City Michigan there is an Andrew Rubis (33) born in Poland with wife Mary (34) and children Mary (6), Vincent (4) and Telegia (sic) age 2. There is also a Wetrzykawski family. If you live in Michigan, you probably can order the census through your local library from the State Library of Michigan (LOM) or visit the LOM in Lansing. The 1910 US census for Bay City shows that Andrew and Maryanna have been married for 26 years and she had 8 children, six of whom are still living. You could get a death certificate for her and if the informant knew the information, it should have her parents' names on it. Or a marriage license might have the parents' names. Sometimes they don't or they only have the father's name. Or if Catholic, you could see if there was a Catholic church in the area that had a predominantly Polish congregation. Bay City is in the Saginaw Diocese: http://saginaw.org/parishes When you say that you have run into road blocks, do you mean that you cannot find the information or that family members will not help? Have you started with your parents and worked back to your grandparents, then there parents and checked the collateral relatives. Sometimes, you have to you at every great aunt and uncle until you find the information that will connect you to a specific person. Do you have death records and obits for people? Checked probate and land records? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Myron JONES which was taken at the Stone Studio in Bay City, Michigan. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's or 1890's with Myron likely in his teens or 20's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Myron in census records: 1900 census of Bay City, MI: Myron E. JONES, age 24, born Jul 1875, married 2 years, born MI, parnets born MI, a Gas Co. Foreman Hattie. V. O. JONES, wife, age 22, born Nov 1877, married 2 years, 1 child/1 living, born MI, parents born NY/OH Martha M. JONES, dau, age 5, born May 1895, born MI Elmer JONES, bro, age 22, born Jan 1878, born MI, parents born MI, a Lumber Yard Laborer I am hoping to locate someone from Myron's family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with his family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Just a guess, but the first public burial grounds in Bay County was in the village of Bay City on a sandy ridge called potters field. It was located south of Columbus ave between Saginaw and Washington. Burials there were eventually moved to Pine Ridge or Oak Ridge cemeteries as the village expanded. It existed from about 1839/40 until about 1860. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <MIBAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 03, 2008 9:21 PM Subject: [MIBAY] Cemetery called "Sand Hill" > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: lindakolinski1 > Surnames: Lutz > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.michigan.counties.bay/4530/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I have been going thru some Frankenlust Township death record index and > have found references under cemetery called "Sand Hill".
