I'll be in Bay City the last Monday and Tuesday in June. I'm trying to make the most use of my time, so I took a "stab" at the Taceys by calling Eugene Tacey who was listed on-line as having been on a historical commission for Essexville a few years ago. He put me in touch with Art Jacobs who had a lot of institutional knowledge. Art referred me to Cincy Kocsis who descends through the line. I'm sending copies of the pictures to her, but I did want to make them available to any family members who might be interested. At this point, I think I'll also bring a couple of sets to donate to the library and historical society files. I appreciate your helpful advice.

There are 79 listings!! Your best bet would be to follow them in the Directories for Bay City. The county listings are not there every year but Essexville is pretty much there. I would check the 1930 census for Hampton Township as we know that a Prosper Tacey died in 1934 so he should be there and you could get some names to check in the phone book when you get here. The Bay City library and the Bay County museum might have Tacey genealogies on file IF someone is doing that here and donated it. That's about all I can think of for now--when are you coming this way?

Harriet's (Hattie) my grandmother's parents were True Goodband (b. 3/22/1863 d. 4/1939) and Mary C. Lehner (b. 8/18/1867 d. 1910). Their children were Harriet, Sarah, and Merry (legally changed her name to Marie). There was a half sister Effie but I can't remember whose daughter. Marie was my great-aunt and she was married to Al Lemuel. Jesse and Harriet Fulkerson moved to The Dalles, OR from Michigan in October 1912. True Goodband's father came over from England when he (the father) was 21. Mary C. Lehner is from the House of Burgess-Dutch. House of Burgess was English representation in Maryland, USA. Harriet was belonged to the Methodist Church; when she moved to Oregon, she joined the First Christian Church. Marie (Harriet's sister) joined the Catholic Church following her marriage to Al Lemuel. Their father, True Goodband, joined the Catholic Church just prior to his death. This so far is all the info I have from the old family bible from 1832. We are not sure about all the children but our Catherine is with Michael & Sophia in 1861 and there is only 10 years between Catherine & Sophia not enough for Sophia to be her mom but we have a picture of Sophia I guess step mom which means the Catherine with Michael & Margaret in 1850 is probably our Kate (Catherine) It is intresting that the eldest child of Michael and Margaret, Caroline is born in New York. our Kate was born in Detroit. I see your George is in Portsmouth village in 1870 as is Michael I though I might start looking for obits for these people maybe we can get a connection.

Hi, For even more information about the "Cushway" clan, you might want to try what I understand is the original French spelling of the name, which is Cauchois. Julia Cauchois was married to my gggg uncle Moses Levasseur dit Carmel. Dit means AKA. Julia was born 7 Nov. 1821 in Port Huron, Macomb County, MI. She married Moses in 1836 in St. Clair County. She lived in or near Marine City. They had 5 children. She died in 1847. Moses, who remarried in 1852 I believe, died in 1857. He was a master joiner. Julia's parents were Louis Cauchois (b. abt. 1770 in Montreal) and Cecelia Chartier. They married 1 Feb. 1821 in the St. Francois parish on the Clinton River. Other surnames on Julia's family tree include: Sejourne dit Sanscrit, Sanchagrin, Bricaut did LaMarche, Raymond did Toulouse, Desparois, Bureau, Morel, Tousain, Ondoyer, Prudhomme, David, Gagnon, Pontife, Boudeau, Gandin dit Gandry.
