HAROLD WENGER DIED ON FRIDAY Operated Upon For Appendicitis, Complications Resulted In Death Regret was expressed on every hand on Friday at the passing of Mrs. Harold WENGER, a young wife and mother, who came here from Hastings after her marriage and has made many friends in her short residence here. Her death, which occurred at 1:10 p.m. Friday, came just a week after she had undergone an operation at Community hospital for appendicitis, to which she had been subject for some time. There were complications and her condition became more serious as the days passed, becoming critical several days before her passing. Margaret Leone WINSLOW was born in Hastings township on Feb. 24, 1914, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. WINSLOW, present Hastings residents, and attended the Hastings schools. Her marriage to Harold WENGER was an event of April 14, 1933, and most of her wedded life was spent with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Menno WENGER, taking up their residence in the ROTHAAR house on Maple street two months ago. A little daughter, Charlene Mae, born last November, was a family favorite. Beside the bereaved husband and daughter, her near relatives are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. WINSLOW, and three sisters, Mrs. Clare HAGER and Ruth and Elaine WINSLOW; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Walters [WATERS], all of Hastings, and Mr. and Mrs. Menno WENGER, her parents-in-law, who had been very close to her. Funeral services were held Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Menno WENGER home with arrangements by Hess & Son, and with 200 in attendance. Mrs. Pauline LYKINS met the people as they arrived. Rev. M.E. Hoyt of the M.E. church officiated, and burial was made at Lakeview cemetery, with Lester WILSON, Robert MASON, Claris GREENFIELD, Farrell BABCOCK, Wilbur MCVEAN and Raymond KNOLL as bearers. There were three cars carrying flowers to the cemetery. After the funeral the Rebekahs and neighbors served a luncheon to about 50 of the company, mostly relatives from a distance, at the Coy BRUMM home. Out of town relatives and friends were Mr. and Mrs. R .L. WINSLOW, Ruth and Elaine WINSLOW, Mr. and Mrs. Clare HAGER, Mr. and Mrs. David Walters [WATERS] of Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. Ira CHAFFEE and family and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth LEWIS of Quimby, and Mr. and Mrs. Harley J. LEWIS and son of St. Johns; Mr. and Mrs. Fred FISHER of Nashville; Mrs. Emma SISSLER of Toledo; Percy WINSLOW, Mrs. Will CRONK and family, Bert WINSLOW and family, Mr. and Mrs. Carey ALTHOUSE, Mr. and Mrs. M.O. HILL and Wayne Bidleman [BIDELMAN] of Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bidleman [BIDELMAN] of Battle Creek; Mrs. W.H. WENGER, Mr. and Mrs. Roy WENGER, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard WENGER, Miss Ida WENGER, Mr. and Mrs. AUBRIGHT of Grand Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. R.J. SHERRINGTON and daughter Elizabeth and son Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd HUNT and children of Alto; Miss E! fie ORR of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas BROWN, Mrs. Mary GALBERTH and Mrs. WELLBOURNE of Battle Creek. ********** THE HASTINGS BANNER, Hastings, Mich., Wed., July 11, 1934, Sec. 1, Pg. 2, Col. 6 OBITUARY Margaret Leone, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald WINSLOW, was born in Hastings township on February 24, 1914. She attended the Hastings schools and on April 14, 1933, was united in marriage to Harold WENGER, son of Mr. and Mrs. Menno WENGER of Nashville, making their home in that village. Mrs. WENGER underwent an operation for appendicitis, death claiming her a week later, Friday, June 29, serious complications having set in. Surviving besides the husband, are a small daughter, Charlene Mae, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.L. WINSLOW, three sisters, Mrs. Clare HAGER, and Ruth and Elaine WINSLOW, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David WATERS, all of this city, and Mr. and Mrs. Menno WENGER. Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 1, at five o'clock at the Menno WENGER home, the Rev. M.E. Hoyt officiating. Burial was in the Lakeview cemetery. Her passing is deeply mourned by her family and a large circle of friends in Hastings and Nashville.
