Champion - 11734 W. 4 Mile Rd., Plainwell - Passed away Fri. (April 9, 1976) evening at Bronson Hospital. She was born Aug. 24, 1892 in Van Buren County. She had been a member of the Plainwell First United Methodist Church for 43 years. Also the Pine Lake Helping Hand Club, Pine Lake Unit of the Pipp Community Hospital Guild, a graduate of Western Normal, and had taught school in Van Buren County. She was preceeded in death by her brother, Dr. Claude Burns. On June 2, 1920 she was married to Claude Champion who survives. Also surviving are 1 daughter, Mrs. Duane (Marian) Day of Woodland; 2 sons, Lyle Champion of Plainwell and Gordon Champion of Delton. 7 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 2 sisters, Mrs. Frank (Eva) Lewis of Gobles and Miss Edith Burns of Mattawan, 4 brothers, Marian Burns of Paw Paw; Maurice and Lawrence Burns both of Mattawan, Burton Burns of Kalamazoo. Several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Marshal-Gren Chapel, wh! ere services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:00, Rev. Emerson Miner officiating. Interment Prairieville Cemetery.
