Age 40 Of Delton Died Monday, October 31, 2005 at his father's residence in Augusta. He was born March 19, 1965 in St. Clair, the son of Edwin H. Bay and Lois J. (Olson) Bay. After growing up in Marine City, Thomas moved with his parents to Harrison, where he graduated from Harrison High School in 1983 and joined the National Guard. Later he attended Mid Michigan Community College and graduated with an Associate in Arts Degree. Another move brought Thomas to Augusta, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in political science from Western Michigan University in 1987 (with honors) and a Master of Social Work Degree in 1990. He married Sharon L. Stutzman of Gladwin on July 30, 1988. Thomas was a licensed social worker and held several positions in the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek area but retired due to a disability. He was a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). While growing up, he loved motorcycles and raced in various motocross events around the state. He later ! took up boxing and was at one time the youngest licensed boxing judge in the state. In more recent years, he enjoyed attending sporting events, going to the movies, shopping and spending time with his family. He especially liked getting out into the community, meeting people and making new friends. He was known to frequent many local coffee shops and had a special knack for remembering names and faces. Surviving are his wife, Sharon Bay of Delton; father, Edwin H. Bay of Augusta; brothers, Richard A. Bay of Augusta, Michael E. (Kathy) Bay of West Bloomfield, and their sons, Zachary and Joshua. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois J. Bay in 2001. At the request of the family, friends may call at FARLEY-ESTES & DOWDLE AUGUSTA CHAPEL 307 North Webster St. Thursday, November 3 after 6:00 p.m., where the family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4. Interment will follow at Hickory Corners Cemetery. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to Habitat for Humanity or to a charity of one's choice for disaster relief or homelessness.
