Mrs. Johncock was born in Winchester, Idaho on Dec. 22, 1906, the daughter of William and Gertrude (Morehouse) Hayward. On June 28, 1928 she married Russell Johncock and he preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1994. She was a graduate of Western Michigan Teachers College and retired from the Delton Kellogg Schools in 1971 with 32 years of service. Mrs. Johncock loved teaching and children. She was an accomplished artist and stimulated her students in the arts. She was called upon to decorate the school for many events, as she had a real talent for decorating and would share her talents. Mrs. Johncock was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking holiday meals for her entire family and extended family. She will be remembered for her keen interest in children, especially her grandchildren. Members of her family include sons, Norman (Donna) Johncock of Scotts, and Keith (Betty) Johncock of Belle! vue; nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jophncock was also preceded in death by a son, Glenn Johncock on Feb. 28, 1996, three brothers and three sisters. The funeral services were conducted Thursday, March 15, 2001 at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home, Delton. Pastor Jeff Worden officiated. Interment Prairieville Cemetery. For a more lasting memorial please consider memorial contributions to the Art Department, Delton Kellogg Schools in memory of Mrs. Nina Johncock.
