Wachter, 51 of Leach Lake, Hasting, died unexpectedly Saturday at his home. Born in Woodland, he was a 1936 graduate of Woodland high School. He earned the Bronze Star in World War II, serving with the Army in Central Burma. A 22-year resident of Hastings, he was a machine operator at Hastings Aluminum Products Co., and a Union President. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Nashville, and the Lawrence J. Bauer American Legion Post in Hastings. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Paul (Sue) Reese and Miss Gail Wachter, both of Hastings; a son David Wachter of Hastings, and a sister, Mrs. Nick (Frances) Hollandsworth of Hastings. Burial in Lake Odessa's Lakeside Cemetery, Ionia Co.
