Peake of Hastings, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at his residence. Mr. Peake was born on October 1, 1909 in Hope Township, Barry County, the son of Gus and Mary (Anders) Peake. He was a retiree of Clark Equipment Company, where he worked in the experimental department, retiring in 1972 with over 27 years of service. Mr. Peake farmed on the family farm all of his life, and was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. He was a member of McCallum United Brethren in Christ Church. On March 1, 1931, he married Bernice (Hubbell), and she preceded him in death in 1980. On July 27, 1990, he married Eva (Hook) Fox, who survives. Mr. Peake was also preceded in death by grandchildren, Christina and Dennis Peake; great grandchildren, Jessica Ball and Mara Frye; a brother, Earle Peake; and sisters, Leone Scott and Doris French. He is also survived by his children, Meryl (Crystal) Peake of Hastings, Mary Alice (Vance) Hamilton of Holt, Marvin (Violet) Peake of Hasting! s, Marjorie (David) Huva of Charlotte, Melva (Stanley) Bigelow of Battle Creek, Melvyn (Marietta) Peake of Albion, and Maxine (Dale) Payne of Delton; step-children, Emery (Martinna) Fox of Hastings, Rose Mead of Hastings, David (Maria) Fox of Florida, and Dale (Georgia) Fox of Hastings; a sister, Grace Watson of Hastings; 31 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Ira were held on Saturday, July 22, 2000 at the Williams Funeral Home in Delton. Reverend David Burkett and Pastor Gerald Galloway officiated. Interment was at Brush Ridge Cemetery in Hastings. Memorial contributions to McCallum United Brethren in Christ Church will be appreciated. Arrangements were made by the Williams Funeral Home in Delton.
