Mr. Durkee was born December 28, 1899 in Kent county, the son of Charles and Julia Durkee, and lived most of his life in the Delton area. He and his son, Charles, owned and operated a service garage in Delton for many years. Mr. Durkee was also a school bus driver for many years for the Delton Kellogg Schools. He was married to Lena Willison, December 8, 1923 in Delton and she preceded him in death February 21, 1972. Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Irene) Garrett of Kal., Mrs. Harold (Gladys) Havens of Coldwater; 1 son, Charles J. Durkee of Tucson, Ariz., 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Gordon Durkee of Delton and Harley Durkee of Fla; several nieces and nephews. A brother, John, preceded him in death. Friends are being received aft! er 9 a.m. Sunday at the Williams Funeral Home in Delton, where services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Elmer Faust officiating.
