Age 77 Hickory Corners Passed away July 30, 2005, at the Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo. Harry was born on Christmas Day in 1927, the son of Harry and Elizabeth "Belle" (Trepanier) Snyder. He graduated from W. K. Kellogg high School in 1945. Harry owned and operated Snyder's Garage in Hickory Corners. Harry can be called Mr. Hickory Corners as he had great dedication for Hickory Corners and the fire department. For over fifty-five years he was a volunteer firefighter and chief for over twenty-five years of the Hickory Corners Fire Department. Harry enjoyed hunting especially deer and goose, golf, boating on Gull Lake, and bowling with his family. His favorite hobby was talking and telling stories. Harry was a leader in the Hickory Corners Telephone Company boycott, which sparked some changes. He is survived by his wife Nancy (Parker) whom he married on September 18, 1993, sons: Greg (Patricia) Snyder of Augusta, Harry (Elizabeth) Snyder of Kalamazoo, Jeff (Vicki) Snyder of Kalamazoo, step children D! ebra (Roger) Collar of Bellevue, Janice (John) Kehl of Plainwell, Michael (Mary Lou) DeRyder of Portage, Cindy Richmond of Bloomingdale, and James DeRyder of Kalamazoo, a sister Irene (Al) Knoll of Hillsdale, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, eight step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Marlene (Cook) Snyder on October 27, 1987, and a sister Paula Woods. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00pm at the WILLIAMS-GORES FUNERAL HOME Delton Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, August 3, 2005, 11:00am at Hickory Corners Bible Church (New location) 13720 Kellogg School Road, Hickory Corners, Pastor Jeff Worden, officiating. Interment East Hickory Corners Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Hickory Corners Bible Church or Hospice of Greater Kalamazoo will be appreciated. Published in the Kalamazoo Gazette on 8/1/2005.
