She was born May 31, 1915, in Shelbyville, MI, to Ralph and Bertha (VanScyoc) Knowlton. After attending the Blossom School, Polly helped around the family's farm. She met Robert England at a dance and they were married on October 1, 1937. Together they ran several businesses, including Hill Top House (a restaurant in their home on Gun Lake), England's Trailer Park & Resort, and several cottage rentals. Polly most enjoyed her time spent with her family, especially when she could gather the whole family together. Her family includes her daughters, Connie and Daryl Foreman of Hickory Corners, Judy Burchett of Shelbyville; and son-in-law, Robert VanderWeg of Tekonsha; sister, Betty Thomas of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Terri and Dale Eaton of Slippery Rock, PA, Linda and Glen Tapling of Evert, MI, Daryl and Ann Foreman of Plainwell, Todd am d Shanon Foreman of Delton, Heather and Scott Colthurst of Gun Lake, John and Lisa Burchett of Plainwell, Jeffrey Burchett and James Burchett, both of Gun Lake; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Polly died November 24, 2002, at Plainwell Pines. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert England in 1984; daughter, Joan VanderWeg in 1997; and son-in-law Gerald Burchett in 1998.
