Soya - Delton, Passed away June 24, 2002 at his residence. Mr. Soya was born on October 11, 1915 in Livingston, IL, the son of Augusta and Emma (Weber) Soya. He was a veteran of WW II, serving his country in the Army Air Force. Mr. Soya was a retiree of Battle Creek Packaging Machines, where he was a machinist, retiring in 1980 with over thirty-one years of service. He loved gardening, farming, woodworking, traveling and fishing. He was a member of the Rolite Travel Club, where they enjoyed camping for many years. Rudy will be remembered for his love of telling jokes. He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Ball), whom he married on May 31, 1941; a son, Roland ``Joe'' (Evelyn) Soya of Portage; daughters, Lynell Scofield of Missouri, Lynette (Gary) Bristol of Delton, and Carolyn (Clifford) McDonald of Hastings; a brother, Walter Soya of Hastings; 7 grand-children; 10 great-grand-children; 1 great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephe! ws. Mr. Soya was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, William. The family will receive visitors Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home Delton Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, June 27, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Country Chapel United Methodist Church, Dowling, Pastor Dianne Doten Morrison officiating. Interment Banfield Cemetery.
