Information is taken from a recent edition of the Hastings Reminder: The new History Preservation Association of Barry County is sponsoring the publishing of a new book-length history about Barry County and its families. "We want the book to stand by itself and not be a duplicate of the other historh book published in 1985." The content of the book will be divided into several chapters devoted to documenting county facts, a history of each of the 16 townships, illustrations, photographs, maps and the history of schools, churches, libraries, organizations, and businesses. "If you or any of your ancestors live in or have ever lived in Barry County, we want your famly story to be in the book. You do not need to have been born in Barry County." "In fact, new residents are very welcome since they are the future history of Barry County." Contact the History Preservation Association of Barry County at P.O. Box 705, Hastings, MI 49058, for a brochure with a sample history and how to write one if you need help. The book will be sold on a pre-sale basis at a price of $55 before publishing. The next meeting of the History Preservation Association of Barry County is Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 at the Church of God 7th Day, 2504 Culver Road in Johnstown Township.
