(Cox) Ramirez, age 37, of Lansing, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 1997. She was born June 2, 1959 in Battle Creek and had been a resident of Lansing for the past 20 years, coming here from the Lake Odessa/Woodland area. She graduated from Lakewood High School, Lake Odessa in 1977. Mrs. Ramirez was a waitress/manager in the restaurant business in Lansing for the past 15 years and was a volunteer with the Capital Area Humane Society. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lansing. Mrs. Ramirez was preceded in death by her father. Norman Gene Cox. She is the beloved wife of Ruben; daughter of Fredia (Kenneth) McCurdy of Woodland; sister of Donald (Dora) Cox of Woodland, Dale (Lynn) Cox of Woodland, Susan Cox of Lansing, Janet Griffin of Naples, Florida and Sarah (Robert) Gallagher of Lansing; aunt of Donna Bookman, Donald Cox, Jr., Kaysie and Kevin Cox, Jennifer Cox, Heather and Robin Gallagher, Leah and Tyler Griffin and great aunt of Cory Bookman. T! he family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw, Lansing from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 1997 and 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 1997 and Julia will lie-in-state at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Religious services will be conducted by the Reverend James Clark Child at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 1997 at First Presbyterian Church of Lansing, 211 N. Chestnut, Lansing with interment in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society in memory of Julia B. Ramirez.
