Kane, aged 57, passed away peacefully at home May 11, 2005. Mike was born December 9, 1947 in Grand Rapids to John and Connie Kane. Michael Kane and Katherine Stainbrook were married on April 24, 1971. Mike served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the bronze and silver stars and the purple heart. He moved to the Delton area in 1979 after traveling around the United States. Mike worked as a registered nurse in the psychiatric and substance abuse wards at the State Hospital in Kalamazoo and retired from the Battle Creek Veterans Administration Center after 30 years of service. Throughout Mike's life he enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with Steve, traveling the world with his wife Kathy, and pig roasts with his family and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his father, John and infant sister, Susan. Mike is survived by his wife, Katherine and son, Steven (Cindy) Kane. Also surviving are his mother, Connie; brothers, John (Bridgett), T! im (Mary); sisters Kathleen (Jim) Beneke, Margaret Anne (Greg) Muck, Barbara (Bob) Muir, Patricia (Doug) Bushong; three grandchildren, Tom, Branden, and Zachary; two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, May 16, 2005 at Williams-Gores Funeral Home, Delton, with Monsignor Michael Hazard, officiating. Interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
