Cole, age 71, of Battle Creek, passed away on December 8, 1996 in Columbia South Bay Hospital in Sun City Center, Florida after a two year illness. He was born August 2, 1925 in Nashville, the son of the late C. J. and Edna (Boylen) Cole. Mr. Cole is a graduate of Nashville High School. He was married to Betty M. Burtram on March 2, 1979 in Sarasota, Florida. After serving in WWII, from 1943-1946, he had lived in Battle Creek for many years wintering in recent years in Ruskin, Florida. He was employed for 31 years at Kellogg's, retiring in 1983. Mr. Cole enjoyed golfing, bowling and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Betty of Battle Creek and two sisters, Helen Crittendon of Hastings and Millie Knodt of Chula Vista, California. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 1997 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek. Reverend Dr. James M. Gysel officiating. Arrangements were made by Richard A. She moved to the Orangeville area as a young girl with her family and then moved to Indianapolis for 24 years before coming back to this area. She married L. E. Ginebaugh in 1931 and they had six children. For the past week she had been a patient at Sandy Creek Nursing Home in Wayland. Hazel and her husband owned and operated the Dog and Suds Drive-In at Gun Lake for 23 years. During the winter when the drive-in was closed, they enjoyed traveling. She also enjoyed attending Wayland Christian Reformed Church where she was a member. Mrs. Ginebaugh was preceded in death by her husband, L. E. in 1985; three children, John DeGroot, Jr. in 1950, Shirley Hawkins in 1970 and Roger DeGroot; two sisters, Florence LaFountain and Dorothy Bradshaw; five brothers, Merle, Joseph, Walter, Lee and Raymond LaFountain. She i! s survived by three children, Della Jean Knisley of Hastings, Lillian Evans of Indianapolis, Indiana and Leonard Ginebaugh of Delton; twenty grandchildren; many great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Ruth Stafford of Plainwell, Vivian "Becky" Phillips of Allegan, AIveta LeRoy of Martin, Joann Parkinson of Indiana, Leo LaFountain of Hopkins, Eddie LaFountain of Hopkinsburg, Owen LaFountain of Martin and Norm LaFountain of Wayland. Mr. Tasker is survived by his wife, Iris of 57 years, two nieces, Norene Tanner of Allan Park and Eleanor Orberg of Rio-de-Janero. He grew up on a farm outside of Hastings, and attended Martin Corners Country School and Hastings High School. After his schooling, he farmed, worked at E. W. Bliss, General Motors, Jareki Machine and Tool, Oliver Corporation Outboard Motor Division, Aluminum Extrusions, and operated Colfax Manufacturing until retirement in 1977. Upon retirement he returned to farming until the age of 80. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed reading, wood and metal work, tinkering with automobiles, gardening and traveling, but most of all he enjoyed the family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Helen Karrar, and a grandson Ricky Slocum. Garth leaves his wife LaVona of 59 years; seven children raised in the home, Robert of Green Cast! le, Missouri, Sally of Michigan, Garth Michael of Spirit River, Alberta, Canada; Ganene of Palm Coast, FL; Lavona Sue of Chicago, IL; Jeff of Woodland, and Trudy of Vermontville. Other survivors include special grandchildren, Bridie, Ty, Rob, Cody, Sonja of Michigan, Bradley and Justin of Georgia, Susan of Ohio, Vickie of Florida, 18 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren; his sister, Dorothy Karrar, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions can be made to the Vermontville Congregational Church, Hernando-Psaco Hospice, or the American Cancer Society. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm on Thursday May 19, 2005 at the Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service. She was born on October 27, 1911, in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of Lewis H. and Harriet E. (Ames) Smith. She was raised in Conneaut and Lakewood, Ohio, as well as North East, Pennsylvania. She was graduated from Lakewood High School, Ohio, majoring in art, and then went on to earn a beautician's license. In 1936, she married Miles E. Dorman, also from Conneaut, Ohio. They moved frequently during their long marriage as his work with Goodrich Tire and Rubber and E. W. Bliss transferred them from place to place. They lived in Brooklyn, New York, during World War II and Billie had many interesting stories to tell of that place and time. She took these moves in stride and always found a way to make a new house a home. The Dormans moved from Brooklyn to Hastings in 1945, then to Canton, Ohio, in 1951, and back to Hastings in 1961. Billie was a member of First Presbyterian Church an! d Thornapple Arts Council in Hastings. She was also active in the Artists' Workshop, an art group who painted together during the 1960's and 1970's. She loved gardening, sewing, reading, and taking long walks, especially on beaches. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. Preceding Billie in death were her husband, Miles; sons, Miles E. and T. Michael Dorman; sisters, Adalynn Smith and Amey McDowell. Surviving are her sister, Betty S. Horton of Conneaut, Ohio; daughter, Kathleen and son-in-law, John Crane of Hastings; grandchildren, Suzanne Depp, Michael (Shannan), Kristine, and Lewis Dorman, as well as great-grandchildren, Tyler Thomas and Elise Marie Dorman. Funeral services will be held at Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings on Wednesday, May 18, with the Rev. Willard H. Curtis officiating. Calling hours are 2:30-3:30 p.m. on May 18 with the funeral service directly following. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Conneaut, Ohio. He loved horses and enjoyed the Boy Scouts, 4-H, traveling, fishing; but most of all, he loved his tractor second to his wife Millie. Jerry loved the outdoors and outdoor activities and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys. On July 3, 1964 he married Judy ENGLAND. In addition to his wife Judy his family includes 3 sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Lisa BURCHETT of Plainwell, Jeffery and James BURCHETT, both at home; 2 grandsons, Jacob and Nicholas BURCHETT; 2 sisters and a brother, Sally CONOLLY and Larry BURCHETT, both of Kalamazoo, Mary BURCHETT of Minnesota; several nieces and nephews.
