J. B. Lobdell is the first person there to do any real farming, according to numerous sources. I need to know where Lobdell is originally from and what caused him to be in Utah Territory/ later the state of Nevada. A couple named Johnson lived a short while with Lobdell. Mrs. Johnson was the first white woman in the valley. Then Johnson's homesteaded land by Lobdell until Mr. Johnson was murdered. Then Mrs. Johnson wed Hank Mather. Does anyone have information to help me enlarge on the backgrounds/history of these people? Thank you. Mary Ann Miller

    3. A book, Fearful Crossing, The Central Overland Trail Through Nevada by Harold Curran, Nevada Publications, P.O. Box 1544, Las Vegas, NV, 89114 tells of conditions of the early pioneers travelling through Elko, Humbold, Pershing, Churchill, Lyon and Mineral counties in Nevada. Your specific people are not mentioned in this book.
