My Great-Great grandfather was in the lumbering business in Barry County in the latter 1800's and it is unfortunate that there appears to be so little info available on the lumbering industry in Barry County in that period. I've found very little local death info in the Hastings Banner in those years---if so, only a brief mention included in a paragraph relating to area new. I continue to search for info. 1. Barry Co. Book Update
    2. Bruce & Debbie Eddy
    3. Can anyone tell me if the Barry County History Book published by the preservation society has been published? I received a Christmas note from Mike Hook regarding the Barry County history book. He said the book project is going well. They have many businesses that want to sponsor a full page or half page, so it will be late spring 2006 before the book is published. They can still take biographies until the end of March, so if you have more biographies to submit, please do so now. On a personal note, I wrote between 50-60 sketches for the new book and sent many photos as well. A previously unknown photo of my 3rd great-grandparents, George and Polly Myers of Woodland and their surviving children, circa 1875-1883, was recently sent to me by a cousin. I had a few copies made and sent one out this week to Mike. I'm thrilled that it wasn't too late to have it included in the book. Deb Eddy Charlotte, MI

    1. New Kalamazoo Valley Genealogical Society Website
    2. Kalamazoo Valley Genealogical Society
    3. The new website for the Kalamazoo Valley Genealogical Society has been completed with a few minor changes yet to come. All the pages on the previous website have been completely redone. I’ve added many new pages and they are: Site Map, Online Membership Form, Upcoming Meetings, Past Meetings, Society Calendar, Surname Page, Local History, Contact Us, Society Officers, and Committee Chairperson pages. Some of the pages coming soon that are yet to be completed are: Cemeteries, County Clerk’s Office Committee, and Publications Committee pages. I’ve been overwhelmed with the response to the new Surname Website page. This is a page that society members can list their Surnames hoping to find a family connection. We have had 28 members submit their Surnames with a total of 212 different Surnames. Please check out this page. You may even find a connection. I was also surprised with the number of people signed up on our Society Mailing List. This list gives members and non-members a chance to share information and search for family connections. We have 137 people on our mailing list and 83 of which are not members of our society. I hope you will like the changes I have made and visit the website often. I welcome any suggestions to further improve our website. The URL for the Kalamazoo Valley Genealogical Society website is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mikvgs/ If you have any questions or comments you can e-mail me at the society e-mail address of: mikvgs@hotmail.com Thank you, Scott W.
